14 Inch Jet Bandsaw

14 Inch Jet Bandsaw

I ordered this saw from Amazon on Monday and it was delivered on the following Friday utilizing their free shipping. I was worried that it might be damaged in route as it seems other have had similar experiences. However, it arrived in pristine condition, shrink wrapped to a wooden pallet. The saw was easy to assemble as there are only 4 pieces, the base, the saw, trunnion, and the table. Instructions are good and everything was there. The base does not have any “feet” and thus...

An Inexpensive and Space Efficient Combination Jointer/Planer

An Inexpensive and Space Efficient Combination Jointer/Planer

57 days ago by Thomas Keefe | 21 comments »

About a year ago, I took my first woodworking class (at the age of 51!). It was the first time I had actually used a jointer or a planer. Up to this point I had always purchased S2S lumber and been limited by whatever HD had to offer. After using both of these in class, I decided I needed to be able to do this at home. However, I have a very small workshop (10’ x 10’) and a limited budget. There was no way that they would both fit and no way my wife would let me buy them. So a ben...

Extra Large drum sander

Extra Large drum sander

I have just acquired this beast of a drum sander from Jet, minus the stand. The installation and initial setting up was very easy, even single handed, but be warned the main part of the unit is very heavy 85kg (187lbs), then add the extension tables and you are talking about 100kg (220lbs). (A similar unit to the Performax 22- 44 Plus Drum Sander, see the review posted by GaryK Please note that this is a European version, the drum sander specs may be different in your country. The i...

Ordered New Lathe Today

Ordered New Lathe Today

135 days ago by StanCurtis | 15 comments »

Today I ordered a new JET JWL-1442VSK wood lathe. The dealer did not have one in-stock, but it is to be delivered from the distribution center on Friday per his promise. I would like to thank ND2ELK for introducing me to LumberJocks.com. The reviews and forums were a great help to me. One of the reasons I chose this particular lathe is the accessories I have for my JET 1014 lathe are nearly all usable on the larger unit. My small lathe, which I have been using for three or four years, w...

Super Value

Super Value

This is a long review but, I hope it will be useful to someone considering this jointer. I purchased this jointer a few weeks ago and wanted to put it through it’s paces before reviewing it. This is an excellent machine and has quickly passed my bandsaw as the favorite tool in my shop. I spent a few months contemplating whether or not I even needed a jointer. After reading page after page of online forums I decided to go ahead and pull the trigger. I came really close to purcha...

Missed the mark

Missed the mark

I must admit, I know very few mobile bases that are actually worth much, and this one is no exception. The brakes have no chance of holding against a load; The entire setup is very unstable, everything wobbles; Universal = Universal from 24×24 to 36×36

jet mini lathe

jet mini lathe

This was my first lathe since middle school shop class. Back then I made a lamp for my mother that made it all the way to state finals. I was excited to get this in my shop and start turning on it and after several months it has performed flawlessly!! I have added the bed extension but not used the tool since adding it. The bed is very solid and the extension was easy to install and level. This model has the spindle lock and indexing head and operates at 500 – 3900 rpm. I think it is...

Very, Very nice beginner lathe

Very, Very nice beginner lathe

i have had my Jet mini lathe for about 5 months now and it is a solid performer. there is a lot to consider when looking at lather so this will be a pretty long review but worth it. Power Power is a big thing when looking into a lathe. this lathe is 1/2 hp which is underpowered. this lathe does do quite well though. i find that i can stall it up up usually i am good. the only times that i have been able to stall it up is when roughing out very large out of true logs. other than that it ...

Jet JJP-12 Planer/Jointer combo (Planer mode)

Jet JJP-12 Planer/Jointer combo (Planer mode)

501 days ago by GaryB | 12 comments »

Here are several pics of the Jet planer/jointer combo machine in planer mode. Conversion from jointer to planer is really very easy. Loosen 2 lever locks, lift the beds ( which move in one piece with fence), swing dust shroud into planing position, then finally activate the feed rollers. The only time consuming part (20-30 seconds) is raising the bed up to desired position. The bed has to be lowered to about 6 inches for the dust port to clear, so to plane 1 inch stock, you have to raise ...

Great 115 Volt Saw

Great 115 Volt Saw

87 days ago by Ben | 11 comments »

I finally received my supersaw after two months on backorder. It was worth the wait. Jet ran a Fathers day deal in June and I got it cheap. Assembly I spent the better part of a Saturday putting the whole machine together. Everything was packaged well and there was no damage. I would rate the manual a 7 out of 10. I did spend 20 minutes looking for one package of bolts that they had packed inside one of the fence rails with the cap on it. I finally read the manual very closely to ...
