So, I’ve been working in my shop for the past three years with a single 100 watt bulb and grew sick off how shitty the lighting was. So, I splurged and swapped out the single bulb fixture for an electrical outlet and had gotten 6 of these LED light fixtures to plug into (3 per side). Shop lighting is on my to-do list this year. I found this light had a good review on LJ so I bought one at HD for $55 yesterday. It says it produces 4000 lumens at 4000K light temp. I can’t verify the light intensity but in my garage shop with the other lights off and the door closed, this is what it looked like. My shop is a 2 car garage (2 cars….must be fiats) and there is only (1) window and (2) over head single light sockets.It gets pretty dark in there now once the sun goes down. I have been planning on putting up 3 banks of 4’ fluorescent lights and running them to switches on the wall. I was researching here and various forums for advice on proper lighting and used recommended formulas. Those calculations were telling me I needed about 9-12 fixtures. That seemed like overkill. ...
