Incra LS - TS on ridgid 4512

About a month ago I purchased a Ridgid 4512 to replace my dw744. Although this is not intended to be a review of the 4512, I will say that I am quite pleased with it. Once I had it assembled and set up I went through it carefully and set up the blade, fence and miter slots to all be parallel and was able to achieve great accuracy (within a few hundredths) without a lot of trouble. I have read about the issue many have had with the blade shifting position as it goes up and down, but I h...

Great New Design for Incra Router Plate Inserts

Great New Design for Incra Router Plate Inserts

I have an Incra master Lift II and it has the magnetic insert plates that are the best thing since sliced bread…but now that sliced bread has become even tastier with the new Incra Clean Sweep Inserts. I bough a set of these last week because I like the idea of them eliminating most of the dust and chips that always occur with pretty much all router plates…sure seemed like a good design idea when I looked at their video. So, I bought a set and used them in my router table a...

I did see an excellent review on this jig after posting mine, but here are my thoughts anyway… I purchased the I-Box about 4 months ago after seeing a positive comment on LJs and noticing it on sale at a local tool vendor, but did not take it out of the box as I didn’t have an immediate need for box joints – was in the middle of my bench build. I was recently asked to build a custom oak makeup desk with drawers for a friend, and thought maybe I would try out the jig fo...

This is my first review on Lumberjocks, and my first Incra product purchased Price and PackagingI ordered the Incra I-Box through www.elitetools.ca here in Canada. I paid 149.00 Canadian with free shipping. It arrived in a narrow cardboard box. It was well packed without the dreaded hard plastic packaging that usually requires bandages. Reason for PurchaseI’m presently building my first workbench, ‘The No-So-Big Workbench’ by Ed Pirnik of Fine Woodworking. The plans ca...

incra i-box a nice little jig

incra i-box a nice little jig

I’m a fan of Incra tools and was very happy to get the I-box jig for box joints as a gift. The jig is sturdy, made of extruded aluminum and MDF, and includes an instructional DVD. Set up is easy. The instructions in both the DVD and the handbook are clear and easy to follow. I set mine up for a table saw, though there is an option to set up for a router table too; and one can go back and forth between table saw or router table without much fussing. Set up took me an hour-and-a-half (but ...

I see that the last review was posted around 3 years ago. I bought this item several weeks ago and couldn’t be more pleased with it. What the other 3 people said about it is still true today! I am totally amazed how accurate this system is when making my cuts. I just wish I would have been able to afford the router table combo!

Let me start by saying that I am very pleased with the results of this miter gauge. The cuts it produces are consistently great. I check them against a Mitatoyo machinist square and they are dead on. They are far, far more accurate and consistent then those produced by my Bosch slider. There are however some limitations and problems which I will explain in detail so my fellow LJs will know just what to expect. I bought the Incra 1000 SE about three months ago. The Incra 1000 SE comes...

'Incra Rule' Marking Ruler..an indispensible tool!

'Incra Rule' Marking Ruler..an indispensible tool!

I purchased this recently online, and was thrilled to get a first hand look at it when it arrived. It has micro-fine slits precisely every 1/32 inch, so that you can lay out lines with absolute precision. The holes are pierced for a 0.5 lead mechanical pencil, or a very sharp conventional pencil. I don’t like making random dovetails. Yeah, I know, some eminent craftsmen simply touch down the handsaw and cut….but that just goes against the grain (heh) of my own approach, tha...

Incra Miter Slider Not a whole lot to say about miter slot sliders but I like these over the Kreg’s for the simple fact that you can adjust the width from above. The Kreg’s you have to remove the slider, make an adjustment using the set screw, repeat until you get the fit that you want. The Incra’s use the “spreader” method for adjusting the fit. You just have to locate and drill a 1/4” hole through the sled to allow access to the adjustment. Down si...

Precision at a Bargain Price

Precision at a Bargain Price

If you are like me, you see the pictures of the Incra Table Saw or Router fences, drool a bit, look at your wallet, sigh, and move on. While trolling Craig’s List, I stumbled onto the Incra Jig.. for $30! I looked at the picture and, after my disappointment that someone was NOT selling the table saw system for $30 (HA!), I was pretty intrigued by the tool and did some Internet research… Apparently, the Incra Jig (or Incra Universal Jig) was Incra’s first product. It...
