Business review for acmetools.com! Amazing, customer service is outstanding!

I am writing this review to tell my experiences with acmetools.com. I had many inquiries about tools I was purchasing that were going to be freight items. They answered every question I had about the tools, every question about the freight and more. They were very polite, helpful, and answered questions completely. Oh and the freight shipping was free and since out of state no tax!! I was also ordering a anvil, the manufacturer was back ordering the one I had purchased. I was uneasy about it t...

Old Masters Gel Polyurethane Finish

Old Masters Gel Polyurethane Finish

09-29-2013 04:00 AM by Purrmaster | 3 comments »

I got this stuff last summer and have used it on several projects since. Primarily on woods that are prone to blotching. I tried it after I read about it in a Bob Flexner book. I like it very much. It goes on and comes off with great ease. All you need to do is put some on a cloth and wipe it onto your wood. Wait a few minutes and then wipe off the excess. It will dry to the touch in a few hours. It’s not particularly smelly nor messy. It’s as easy to apply as boiled li...

No More Sucking Through a Straw

No More Sucking Through a Straw

08-27-2013 10:08 PM by HillbillyShooter | 16 comments »

This is a product I’ve been meaning to share for some time. I discovered it back in 2011 after I quit smoking and promptly developed some breathing problems. I tried various paper masks but always felt like I was trying to “suck air through a straw.” I looked at other, bulky masks but passed as being overly restrictive. Finally, I found the “Dust Bee Gone” mask and ordered one. My experience has been great with the breath ability through the material of the mask and the filtering quality...

"Professional" Woodworker Router Bit Set

"Professional" Woodworker Router Bit Set

05-08-2013 05:02 AM by rivox1 | 27 comments »

Hello Jocks, As a beginner woodworker I needed a set of router bits, but didn’t want to take on a second mortgage to be able to afford a premium set, so I decided to buy this bit set in order to try out different bits. My line of thinking was to see which ones I used the most so that I could buy one by one the most indispensable ones of a better quality. I picked up this set for a little over $100. It contains 75 pieces and at first glance looks really nice. On my daily vocabul...

Thanks for reading this review. I hope you’ll find useful informations and it will help you to make your choice.I’ve bought this saw used from a very kind guy in Ontario. I’ve taken the chance to buy it without beingable to do a test drive or even to see it. But I had a good feeling. And I was right.I am not sure if this exact model is still available in Canada but I’ve seen some clones under different brands. This saw is pretty amazing. Look at the specs:20” ...

Must-Have Books for Plane Collectors!!!

Although this book has been mentioned a few times, I don’t know of a formal review here, so here goes: Volume I and II, “Patented Transitional & Metallic Planes in America” is an astounding body of research on the development of handplanes made since 1827. The research deals with planes from 1827 to 1927 in volume I and 1927 to the present in volume II. In it you will find data from the US Patent Office, as well as blueprints, logos, and advertising literature for th...

Butler Tray Hinges

Butler Tray Hinges

09-11-2012 09:05 AM by robscastle | 6 comments »

I decided to write up this review after finding little or no information regarding their use and also their installation. Background I purchased the hinges from a Creative finishes for Hardware supplier located in Dungog N.S.W. Australia. Butler style hinges all appear to be in the ormanental catagory and are mostly brass or polished Stainless Steel. The profile is overall rectangular and the ends can be square edge or rounded. The hinges I used were solid brass polished to a high ...

Poor Communication

Poor Communication

04-27-2012 12:07 PM by Bertha | 30 comments »

I ordered two woodscrews and two garters on April 3, 2012 for $320.00. I sent a total of 8 messages to check on the status of my order. I said, “I’m not asking for the World, just a bit of communication” (both on the site form and via e-mail). Without a single word, my payment was refunded on April 25, 2012. The credit hasn’t posted yet but I have every reason to believe it will. The right thing to do would have been to simply tell me he couldn’t fill the order. ...

Onsrud 12 tooth 8" Dado set

Onsrud 12 tooth 8" Dado set

10-25-2011 06:27 PM by Dallas | 1 comment »

I bought this set, mostly on a whim, since my BT3100 isn’t really built for 8” dado blades. Nevertheless, being addicted to eBay as I am, I was looking at different Dado sets and found this one to be inexpensive, but with my experience with another Onsrud blade thought I would take a chance. When I received the blade set, in a nice wooden box, I just had to try it. I have lately been trying to make some box joints in Chinaberry wood, which is really brittle. My usual method is ...
