Hitachi Table Saw

Hitachi Table Saw

On first look the Hitachi C10Fl looked like a great deal but after using it for 2 years the following has become evident: FOR EVERYONE WHO THINKS I PUT THE DUST COLLECTION ON FACING THE WRONG DIRECTION !!! NOTE THAT THE PORT IS OPPOSITE THE OPERATOR. THE PORT WAS INSTALLED ACCORDING TO THE INSTRUCTIONS. Rated according to the manufacturer at 3 hp found out that it is actually 1 1/2 HP a bold faced lie that they should be sued for. This is a terrible design, and although bigger and be...

Problematic Hitachi CW-40

Problematic Hitachi CW-40

1256 days ago by solidoak | 32 comments »

Let me perfectly honest and up front here. I have owned the Hitachi CW-40 for about a year now. In some categories it performs very well. For instance, I like the soft start feature and the saw has very little vibration. But I consider there to be at least 2 MAJOR PROBLEMS with this saw. 1. The first problem is that it will not accept a spiral pinless blade. I have tried just about everything to install a spiral blade in this saw, but nothing I do works. The blade kinks, or breaks, or...

I needed a new one.

I needed a new one.

I rarely use a scroll saw. If I have to do some scroll work I either do it by hand or use a bandsaw for outside work. Recently I had to do lots of inside scrolling. I’ve got an old craftsman scroll saw that I less than affectionally call ‘Thumper’ for obvious reasons. But, it cut and was good for work that wasn’t too intricate.I’m making a desk for my niece and the side panels between the styles are the medical symbol for an RN as she’s soon to be graduatin...

Excellent Saw for the Cost

Excellent Saw for the Cost

825 days ago by Wodbug | 23 comments »

After reading the many reviews here both pro & con, and seeing the many years all of them were written, I thought to start a new thread to add my 2 cents worth. My saw was bought in 2005, replacing a 25 year old 10” Craftsman that was given to a close friend. The pro & cons: The fence is quite flimsy and very difficult to keep adjusted, so I bought a 26” utility fence from Rockler. After a tedius install having to drilll additional holes for brackets, and using some angled ...

Hitachi Cordless Drill

Hitachi Cordless Drill

1229 days ago by Kjuly | 21 comments »

My old Delta cordless drill, drilled it’s last hole after four plus years of service. It was a 14 volt drill that served me well. The drill is in decent shape but the batteries would not hold a charge long enough to drive a 2? drywall screw. To replace the two batteries would cost over $75.00. I do not want to put that kind of money in to batteries with the life of the drill motor uncertain. Time to go shopping for a new cordless drill. First, lets look at what I need in a drill and ho...

First Saw and Glad I Bought It

First Saw and Glad I Bought It

1535 days ago by Mookie | 20 comments »

This is my first post and it’s about my first saw. I started woodworking a couple of years ago almost as a fluke. I bought a drill press because it was only $99 and from there I started buyng other power tools and suddenly discovered I really liked woodworking. I bought the Hitachi at Lowe’s after asking a guy at Woodcraft what he thought about the specs of the Hitachi for a beginner. I had no idea what or how much I would be cutting and $500 was a HUGE investment at the time....

I think I love you.......

I think I love you.......

Wow! What a difference. I purchased this router with a gift card last Christmas but had never even opened the box until today. My POS Black n Decker died midway through flush trimming my Work Shop doors. Quick setup on this beauty and started trimming. Made me a little teary eyed when I started cutting with it. Oh so quiet, maybe 1/2 the decibels of the old POS. Electronic soft start (mmmmmmmm). Comfortable grips and low vibration. Cuts twice as smooth with the EXACT SAME BIT. You canno...

Hitachi M12V Falls Short

Hitachi M12V Falls Short

847 days ago by pintodeluxe | 17 comments »

I was excited to add this router to my collection because of its 15 amp power rating. However, several factors led me to use other machines. Ergonomics: The machine is heavy and clunky, with no particular thought to ergonomics. A router is one tool in particular that needs to feel good in your hands. The plunge action is fair. The plastic handles are hollow, and feel like they may break off at any moment. They actually creak as you pick this tool up. The height adjustment knob is a ch...

A great buy for the price at Lowes Hardware

A great buy for the price at Lowes Hardware

1480 days ago by cabinetmaster | 16 comments »

My boss went to Lowes Hardware the other night and came back and handed me this combo set of drill and impact. Lowes has this on sale this week for only $149. The Impact by itself sells for $129. I used it all day Friday and let me tell you. This impact alone has more power than the regular 12 volt Hitachi impact driver. And light. Every time I pick it up I wonder if someone took the battery out. This impact and drill are so light weight and comfortable. You can use these drills all day an...

One Simply Sweet Saw

One Simply Sweet Saw

1069 days ago by blockhead | 16 comments »

I purchased this saw about 6 months ago and have been very happy with its performance. I did lots of research and read many reviews on many different saws and also received some great feedback from other LJ’s. I decided that for the money and my intended usage, this offered the most bang for the buck. I have used and own several different Hitachi tools and they have always performed very well for me. In some of the reviews I read, it was said that the sub fence was either bent or broken, p...
