So I purchased this from a local woodcraft @ $799 (on sale till the end of March) and it was forklift loaded in the bed of my truck. It was a fairly small pallet and my wife and I were able to unload it to the garage with little trouble. (She didn’t complain too much.) I assembled it in about an hour, casually taking my time and it was pretty easy. All the tools are included to assemble, however it’s faster and easier to use real sockets/wrenches. I was able to assemble it ...

Initial review of 14bx 220

Initial review of 14bx 220

i purchases the 14 box along with the articulating 220v halogen lamp, mobility kit and 3/4 resaw king blade. When delivered it was well packages. Probably the best I have eve seen. It was packed tightly inside a box in molded styrofoam. The box was in perfect shape and I had now double that it had travelled safely to my home. Initially the machine looked great. I have had the machine now for several weeks and have yet to use it. There have been many issues with setup mainly due to la...

So far I am very impressed

So far I am very impressed

I will have to come back after I get some time using this band saw so please consider this as a first impression review. I took receipt of the saw this afternoon so I have only performed the un-boxing/assembly and did a few test cuts in maple. The packaging was top notch on-par with the packaging used by SawStop. Assembly was quick and easy with help from my 10 year old daughter, all said and done took maybe 2 hours to assemble with her help and us taking our time so I could explain things...

Laguna 2hp Cyclone Dust Collector - Unboxing & Assy

Laguna 2hp Cyclone Dust Collector - Unboxing & Assy

This is an initial (unboxing & assembly) review … I’ll update after the machine has been in service for a few months. The machine arrived at the local Woodcraft store on a pallet, and weighed in at 106 KG (a little over 233 pounds). We got the shipping container ( 45” x 26” x 38”) to fit into the cargo bay of my Jeep Liberty with a little finagling (and a few well-chosen words). I have a pneumatic table and a very patient wife that were invaluable in unloading it in my g...

Couldn't be happier

Couldn't be happier

Since I was younger, I have always had the woodworking bug. Well, for my 41st birthday, my Wife decided to buy me a saw so I could learn the craft/hobby. Initially, we were looking at the portable saws like in HomeDept, Lowes, etc. I do not have a dedicated shop, as we park our cars in the garage, so portability was a concern and consequently, I was looking for as much saw as I could fit with the smallest footprint and one that I could afford. I looked at new, used, Craigslist…all o...

Laguna 14/12 vibration issues fixed

Laguna 14/12 vibration issues fixed

I recently set up a new 14/12 bandsaw and found no vibration issues as have been previously reported on this forum. It looks as if Laguna solved whatever problems they might have had. I did make a couple of modifications as described by Randy Woodworker on his youtube videos including a zero clearance insert and replacing the metal dust shield with one of wood held in place by magnets. Overall, a great saw.

Laguna 2HP review

Laguna 2HP review

My wife purchased the 2 HP Laguna Dust Collector for me. I was always hesitant on buying Laguna because of their horrible customer service reviews. I currently have a 14/12 band saw and have had zero problems. I will explain the problems I experienced and explain why I will never purchase a Laguna product ever again. My wife bought me the 2 HP Dust Collector because I do woodworking to cope with my Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. She copes with my drinking from doing and experiencing e...

Finally a Serious Bandsaw

Finally a Serious Bandsaw

The band saw is an amazing tool, or so I am told. I must admit that with my Craftsman 12 inch saw (similar if not the same as the Rikon with 8 inch resaw) that I was not always feeling the thrill. Part of this may have been the fact that I tended to use a compromise blade to avoid changing between resawing and scrolling optimization. I don’t have the patience for band saw blade changes and the subsequent tuning. The path of least resistance from my perspective was to get a saw optimized for ...
