Great dado for under $100

Great dado for under $100

I’ll start by saying that this is the only dado blade I’ve ever used. So, if you’re expecting a comparison to other dado blades, I’m not the person that can provide that for you. A good friend of mine loaned his dado set (this one) to cut some channels in some 3/4” MDF. Since I hadn’t used a dado set before I decided to make a number of test cuts first. I had some scrap red oak and yellow pine laying around, so I used that for some practice. The SD20...

Freud LU88 - Nice for table saw blade, but ...

I have a Delta 10” Compound Mitre saw. I bought the Freud LU88 saw blade for my Craftsman table saw a couple weeks ago, and WOW, what a difference it made when I cut some test pieces. Buying the LU88 was a HUGE step up for me, and I really noticed the improvement on my cross-cuts. Nice and smooth, hardly bogged down at all (Craftsman 10” 2.5hp TABLE SAW) on 3/4” oak, at least not like my old blade. My question is, will the LU88 blade also work in my compound mitre saw ? ...

Box Joints Made Easy on Your Table Saw...

Box Joints Made Easy on Your Table Saw...

I love box joints, they are easy to construct, look great and when cut and assembled correctly are as strong a joint as any you can cut. The Freud 8” Box Joint Cutters do one thing and one thing only – they cut perfectly flat box joints on your table saw. You have two size joints that you can cut, either 3/8” or 1/4”. The slot width is determined by the way that you arrange the blades. It all begins with a shop made jig, which attaches to your Miter Gauge. Basic...

Just got this in the mail. Haven’t had a chance to use it yet. I wanted to get this up before the Woodcraft sale went away. $99 with free shipping. This is my second router, my first is a Black and Decker plunge router. This router appears to be quality built. Smooth base adjustment with two different style adjustment knobs that can be switched. Both 1/4” and 1/2” collets. Adjustable speed from 10,000-23,000 RPM. Also comes with a nice case, which is a huge bonus to...

Freud LU87R010 10” thin kerf 24 tooth rip blade ROCKS!!!

Freud LU87R010 10” thin kerf 24 tooth rip blade ROCKS!!!

2008 days ago by klpete45 | 9 comments »

I bought this blade last year when I had a considerable quantity of rough-cut walnut to process. My saw at that time was a Ryobi BT3000. While it did manage to rip full 2”thick boards with a 40 tooth combo blade, it did struggle and left a lot of burn marks. So I did a little internet research and settled on the Freud blade since the manufacturer claimed “This blade gives new life to underpowered table saws…..”and the fact that I could get it online for under $50 made it hard to resist. I fre...

WOW, what can I say. This is another pleasant surprise from Freud. In my search for a super thin kerf saw blade under 20. The Demo demon @ $15.00 although not designed for table saw and ripping gets my 5 star.Gives extremely clean cut with not too slow but steady feed rate and at 1/16 kerf, No waste and oh my, almost no dust. You can see the cut is practically glue ready.Since this is 7 ¼ blade and super thin, I don’t recommend using it on any stock thicker than 3/4 It may deflect but you do g...

7 1/4" thin kerf blade for your table saw.

7 1/4" thin kerf blade for your table saw.

Haven’t used a thin kerf blade before so I purchased the 7 1/4” Freud Diablo Demo Demon Circular Saw blade for $15 from Home Depot just to see what all the hype is about thin kerf blades. What a difference and the price is right. Noticed that my saw sounds different and stops faster. There is significantly less dust. The saw feels more powerful when I’m cutting. The kerf is about 1/16” and the wood is ash.The blade stands at 1 3/4” when raised at it’...

Freud insert router bits

Freud insert router bits

This is a review of Freud insert router bits but also a review of these bits in general as there seems to be some re-branding of the tools going on. I have bits from Freud, Amana, CMT and Dimar, some with identical bodies. Regardless of manufacture, having one of these bits would be an important addition to any shop. You can achieve perfect glass smooth surfaces on any wood, even going completely against the grain. Fluffy, curly snowflakes of shavings will hang in the air while you work an...

Awesome BLADE for the $$

Awesome BLADE for the $$

985 days ago by Lance | 16 comments »

Hey guys, this is my first review for any woodworking tool, I’ve been in this hobby since April of this year. When it comes to being satisfied with any product I’m hard to please, I like quality for my dollar so this is a strict and honest review. I have the Ridgid R4512 TS and I’ve been using the original blade since day one, never cleaned it, never sharpened it either, it’s been preforming the same since day one. I’ve used the original blade to build less th...
