Don’t Confuse this with the previous posting on Freud Junk. This a different Lumberjock with his own Freud Junk story. It was funny logging on to find another member just posted about this. I guess I’m not alone in my recent sad experience with Freud. Let me start by saying that I own dozens of Freud router bits and several of their door making sets. I have used Freud products for years and have been completely satisfied with all the Freud products I have ever owned until no...

Expensive Junk

Expensive Junk

I bought this bit as part of a three bit set for $75.00 and had high expectations after reading about their revolutionary four blade cutting bits. I put this cove and bead bit in and after the first cut (which was smooth) one of the blades split and separated from the bit and buried itself into my router table fence. What is most troublesome of all is the fact that I communicated this to Freud with no response in over two weeks, not only does Freud have terrible quality control, now ad non-...

Freud Thin Kerf Glue Line Rip blade (10")

Freud Thin Kerf Glue Line Rip blade (10")

I’ve been using this blade since last December. Please note: It’s badly in need of sharpening now but my review will reflect the blade as it was when new, since that seems only fair). This blade does indeed perform as advertised. I put it on a 1 3/4 HP table saw. It’s worked very well. It does leave a pretty much flawless finish on the ripped wood. It’s cutting performance is excellent, but it does bog down on some harder woods like oak and hard maple. On a...

Night and Day

Night and Day

Bought one of these at HD last night and changed out my Bosch 60T blade that came with my Bosch gcm12SD miter saw, and the difference is indeed night and day between the two. I was getting clean cuts with the stock blade, but it was burning the cuts regardless of how fast or slow I seemed to feed it. I read good reviews about other freud blades here, so I decided to give it a shot.Wow! absolutely effortless cuts. There is just no comparison to the stock blade. I can’t even hear it cutti...

Freud's Dado - Freud's Dodo

Freud's Dado - Freud's Dodo

It’s pretty safe to say I love Freud tooling. And I love it in spite of being trapped into using it.I should explain. We primarily run Freud tooling in our shop simply because my boss signed up to be an occasional demonstrator for them at hobbyist shows. His compensation for this task (and it is a task if you put yourself into it) is that he receives dealer discount on any order, always. It would be easy to dislike their stuff if I had no choice (as the tooling manager of a small ...

Fusion P410 is WICKED SHARP

Fusion P410 is WICKED SHARP

Just completing the refurbishment of an older 3 HP Jet cabinet saw, I decided to indulge in the first “premium” blade I’ve ever owned. I read several threads discussing blades and was intrigued to find out what the Hi-ATB with the double sided grind was all about. Now that I have the power, I also wanted to get a non-thin kerf blade. This blade is “wicked sharp”... There are a lot of technical discussions already out there, so for my review, I decided to...

Quality Control issues at Freud

Quality Control issues at Freud

I recently purchased this dado set at Woodcraft and after making my first dado cut I noticed a ridge in the middle of the cut, as if the chippers were a fraction smaller that the outside blades, I took it back and exchanged it for another, which did exactly the same thing. When I returned to Woodcraft they put it on one of their table saws and got the same result, a noticeably higher ridge in the middle of the dado cut making the bottom uneven. They began pulling all these off their shelves...

Freud Guide Bushing Adapter Ring installs different than most

Freud Guide Bushing Adapter Ring installs different than most

This is an adapter ring for the Freud FT1700VCE router, and it also fits some other Freud routers. It is a brass ring that allows the stock baseplate to accept standard 1-3/16” P.C. style guide bushings. One of the pictures shows a guide bushing installed, however these are purchased separately. The strange thing about this adapter ring is it has no holes or threads to mount it. Instead, it snaps into a recess in the baseplate, and is retained with the heads of two screws. The scre...

Freud LU85 Ultimate Cutoff Blade - an accurate name

Freud LU85 Ultimate Cutoff Blade - an accurate name

I purchased this blade to replace the OEM blade on my G0690 table saw. As i was cutting the kerf in my crosscut sled, I noticed that the OEM blade was wobbling very slightly. I decided it was about time to replace that blade with two dedicated blades, one for rip cuts, the other for cross cuts. This was the blade I purchased for cross cuts. My first use for this blade was to trim the edges on my end-grain cutting board to square it up and remove the rough edges after flattening. I used the...
