Router Table

Router Table

I purchased a Freud router table and router 2 years ago and liked it so much I bought another one last year so I had 2 when making rails and stiles.I have been having trouble with the stiles because it was as if the lumber was not straight when I would run it so the profile was uneven across the piece. I finally realized that the table top had bowed from the weight of the router so the center of the table was off about an 1/8”. I brought it to the attention of my local Woodcraft store ...

Awesome BLADE for the $$

Awesome BLADE for the $$

861 days ago by Lance | 16 comments »

Hey guys, this is my first review for any woodworking tool, I’ve been in this hobby since April of this year. When it comes to being satisfied with any product I’m hard to please, I like quality for my dollar so this is a strict and honest review. I have the Ridgid R4512 TS and I’ve been using the original blade since day one, never cleaned it, never sharpened it either, it’s been preforming the same since day one. I’ve used the original blade to build less th...

Night and Day

Night and Day

Bought one of these at HD last night and changed out my Bosch 60T blade that came with my Bosch gcm12SD miter saw, and the difference is indeed night and day between the two. I was getting clean cuts with the stock blade, but it was burning the cuts regardless of how fast or slow I seemed to feed it. I read good reviews about other freud blades here, so I decided to give it a shot.Wow! absolutely effortless cuts. There is just no comparison to the stock blade. I can’t even hear it cutti...

Sweet!

Sweet!

When I ordered this blade I wasn’t sure what to expect, other than it being better then the general, all-purpose blade I was using to cut some hard maple on my tablesaw. This was one of the lower priced blades from Rockler wen I was looking at Rip blades and easier to justify to my wife that I needed this blade. I just got the blade today and it worked great! To give you a little background, I have a Craftsman tablesaw that I upgraded with the V poly belt. Nothing special about it, ...

First dedicated rip blade

First dedicated rip blade

555 days ago by dnick | 14 comments »

After all these years, I finally bought a rip blade, when I saw a good deal on Amazon. Always used combination blades before. What I really liked about the Freud LU87R010 was the thin kerf & the flat tooth grind. Always wanted flat tooth for grooves & spine joints. Blade was great. I ripped some soft Maple & Mahogony & didn’t have to joint the edges. Then when installing the blade, after maybe 20 rips, I just happened to notice the tooth you see in the photo, because it ...

Freud 2 1/4 HP Variable Speed Router Model FT1700VCE

Just got this in the mail. Haven’t had a chance to use it yet. I wanted to get this up before the Woodcraft sale went away. $99 with free shipping. This is my second router, my first is a Black and Decker plunge router. This router appears to be quality built. Smooth base adjustment with two different style adjustment knobs that can be switched. Both 1/4” and 1/2” collets. Adjustable speed from 10,000-23,000 RPM. Also comes with a nice case, which is a huge bonus to...

Freud Thin Kerf Glue Line Rip blade (10")

Freud Thin Kerf Glue Line Rip blade (10")

I’ve been using this blade since last December. Please note: It’s badly in need of sharpening now but my review will reflect the blade as it was when new, since that seems only fair). This blade does indeed perform as advertised. I put it on a 1 3/4 HP table saw. It’s worked very well. It does leave a pretty much flawless finish on the ripped wood. It’s cutting performance is excellent, but it does bog down on some harder woods like oak and hard maple. On a...

More Freud Junk

More Freud Junk

Don’t Confuse this with the previous posting on Freud Junk. This a different Lumberjock with his own Freud Junk story. It was funny logging on to find another member just posted about this. I guess I’m not alone in my recent sad experience with Freud. Let me start by saying that I own dozens of Freud router bits and several of their door making sets. I have used Freud products for years and have been completely satisfied with all the Freud products I have ever owned until no...

Box Joints Made Easy on Your Table Saw...

Box Joints Made Easy on Your Table Saw...

I love box joints, they are easy to construct, look great and when cut and assembled correctly are as strong a joint as any you can cut. The Freud 8” Box Joint Cutters do one thing and one thing only – they cut perfectly flat box joints on your table saw. You have two size joints that you can cut, either 3/8” or 1/4”. The slot width is determined by the way that you arrange the blades. It all begins with a shop made jig, which attaches to your Miter Gauge. Basic...

Great dado for under $100

Great dado for under $100

I’ll start by saying that this is the only dado blade I’ve ever used. So, if you’re expecting a comparison to other dado blades, I’m not the person that can provide that for you. A good friend of mine loaned his dado set (this one) to cut some channels in some 3/4” MDF. Since I hadn’t used a dado set before I decided to make a number of test cuts first. I had some scrap red oak and yellow pine laying around, so I used that for some practice. The SD20...
