Shop Fox w1820

Shop Fox w1820

I have had my new Shop Fox for about 2 weeks now and I’d like to think that I have put it through the paces by now. The saw is 230v and 3hp, comes with dado insert, push stick, blade, wrenchs, etc. It took roughly 2 hours or so to get this thing put together and ready to go. I looked at the Grizzly g0691, but didn’t like that I could be denied the liftgate by the trucker, I live at the end of a cul-de-sac, so I went with the Shop Fox, there is a dealer 30 miles from me. Movi...

Great Intro Shaper

Great Intro Shaper

1210 days ago by Dustin | 16 comments »

After owning these units for a few years now I think it might be a good idea to rewrite this review. Just starting into the cabinet business this machine will satisfy most of your needs. It is easily powerful enough to run shallow profiles, but when it comes to raised panel cuts you either have make sure your cutter is exceptionally sharp or you’ll have to run it through a few passes. The fence is superior to many shapers that I have used in the past, however, getting it parallel t...

Nice router table

Nice router table

1134 days ago by Dustin | 1 comment »

This review is from: SHOP FOX W1701 1-Horsepower Shaper (Tools & Hardware)First off, I have three shapers now. Two 2hp Shop Fox shapers and this little 1hp Shop Fox shaper. I use it primarily for profiling door lips and it does an excellent job. I know there are a lot of shapers quite a bit like this one but I got the shop fox because it had a high enough rpm to handle my router bits necessary for the job. Setting it up you’ll have to space the table away from the frame or you won&#...

26" Of Awesome

26" Of Awesome

It’s big, it’s heavy, but it is possible to move it. Just don’t try taking it out of your truck and pulling it into your shop like I did. It’s very dangerous!I had to take off my door to fit into my shop lol. Good times!Anyway, so it weighs a lot and it’s big so your going to need casters to put it on if you want to move it at all. This sander is very powerful with it’s 5hp motor. I can take off quite a bit of material in one pass using 80 and 120 grit...

Shop Fox D3118 Router Inlay Kit

Shop Fox D3118 Router Inlay Kit

”Cut perfect inlays with this Inlay Kit and your shop-made template. Simply slide on the bushing to rout the cutout and then remove the bushing to cut the perfectly matched inlay. Includes a 1/8” solid carbide spiral cutter and alignment pin. Fits Porter Cable® routers and other routers with template guide adapters.”Everything was there and fit my new Trend T4 just fine although there were two things that bothered me. #1 – the alignment pin is 8mm! (not 1/4”),...

Shop Fox W1410 Table saw Fence w/standard rails

Shop Fox W1410 Table saw Fence w/standard rails

I have a Hitachi C10FL table saw. The Hitachi fence has been described in some reviews as “decent.” Not mine. I could never adjust it to anything remotely resembling consistency or holding square. It slewed terribly between front and back I always, always had to measure front and back to guarantee squareness. I got fed up. One of the new additions for my new shop project was a new fence! It took a lot of study. There are a lot of choices and a fairly wide spread of prices. I narrowed my choic...

It's a Drill Press

It's a Drill Press

1909 days ago by Chris | 0 comments »

I was in need of a drill press and purchased this drill press on clearance. It performs as advertised; however there a couple of areas that are lacking. The Good:1) Spindle run out is almost non-existent2) The speeds are easy to change3) It seems to have plenty of torque for my needs The Bad:1) Even when “locked down” the table can wander laterally2) The table height adjustment has a lot bit of play3) Worst of all: The table deflects significantly even with moderate downward...

Shop Fox W1706 Review - Satisfied Customer

Shop Fox W1706 Review - Satisfied Customer

140 days ago by DYankee | 20 comments »

Recently purchased the Shop Fox W1706. I was driven to purchase this bandsaw for a combination of reasons – price ($580), reviews found on-line and by personal contacts (almost no negative ones found), features. The saw came with a quick tension release, fence and miter. I purchased the riser kit as well. As I just recently pruchased it and have not used it very much this review will focus on set up and initial impressions. The set up was EXTREMELY easy as it was nearly fully...

It does what it says

It does what it says

I’ve never written a review before. But, there’s been many conflicting reviews on the internet such as Amazon and a few others about the difficulty of assembling the base. I’ve had no problems putting this together. However, the box did say “Improved Design”. Maybe that had something to do with it. It was quite simple, and the instructions were clear. The only reason I looked at the instructions was because some people were having such problems, that I was try...
