Nice router table

Nice router table

This review is from: SHOP FOX W1701 1-Horsepower Shaper (Tools & Hardware)First off, I have three shapers now. Two 2hp Shop Fox shapers and this little 1hp Shop Fox shaper. I use it primarily for profiling door lips and it does an excellent job. I know there are a lot of shapers quite a bit like this one but I got the shop fox because it had a high enough rpm to handle my router bits necessary for the job. Setting it up you’ll have to space the table away from the frame or you won&#...

Shop Fox W1706 Review - Satisfied Customer

Shop Fox W1706 Review - Satisfied Customer

Recently purchased the Shop Fox W1706. I was driven to purchase this bandsaw for a combination of reasons – price ($580), reviews found on-line and by personal contacts (almost no negative ones found), features. The saw came with a quick tension release, fence and miter. I purchased the riser kit as well. As I just recently pruchased it and have not used it very much this review will focus on set up and initial impressions. The set up was EXTREMELY easy as it was nearly fully...

Great 14 inch Saw for the price

Great 14 inch Saw for the price

83 days ago by Joe Watson | 7 comments »

Ive only Had the saw since the end of February but what use I have gotten out of it was wonderful. This saw came with roller bearing guides and a 1hp motor both features I was looking at. Only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was I felt like some of the guards from the blade near where the lower guides are needs a redesign because they tend to bend and get in the way after I change the blade. Also not sure what the easiest way is to change the blade because the fence guides get in the wa...

Fellow lumberjocks I hate to post a bad review but this dovetail jig has taken the last of my Patience that I allocated for it :( I bought this last year after realizing I need a jig, well I am fed up with trying to fix an almost new jig after reading the instruction manual and setting it up accordingly I placed the wood in the holder and tightened the clamp and after 3 seconds SNAP!!!! the knobs and bushing holders were broke after calling grizzly and getting a new bag of knobs and nylon b...

Grizzly 6" low-speed grinder (Shop Fox)

Grizzly 6" low-speed grinder (Shop Fox)

This item is currently on sale at Grizzly for $49.99 plus shipping, listed at about $110. It runs at 1725 rpm, and the motor is rated as 1/4 hp, totally enclosed and fan-cooled. It ran quite smoothly right out of the box. The left wheel is 3/4” wide, and coarse grit. The right wheel is 1 1/2” wide, and is white aluminum oxide medium grit. I did the rough grinding on several chisels with the wider wheel, and was very pleased. A number of my chisels and plane irons are in need ...

Shop Fox midi lathe, Seems to be a winner

Shop Fox midi lathe, Seems to be a winner

953 days ago by jred | 5 comments »

My wife spoke words to me recently that I thought I’d never hear (at least not on her own volition). She told me that I should get a lathe! What a woman! I have been looking at “midi” sized lathes for a long time and really like the jet 12×20 I used at a woodcraft class. Two problems: There has not been a reasonably priced used Jet lathe go up for sale in the entire state in over six months (I’ve checked Craigslist and Ebay regularly). Second problem: new lathe...

Shop Fox w1820

I have had my new Shop Fox for about 2 weeks now and I’d like to think that I have put it through the paces by now. The saw is 230v and 3hp, comes with dado insert, push stick, blade, wrenchs, etc. It took roughly 2 hours or so to get this thing put together and ready to go. I looked at the Grizzly g0691, but didn’t like that I could be denied the liftgate by the trucker, I live at the end of a cul-de-sac, so I went with the Shop Fox, there is a dealer 30 miles from me. Movi...

It does what it says

It does what it says

I’ve never written a review before. But, there’s been many conflicting reviews on the internet such as Amazon and a few others about the difficulty of assembling the base. I’ve had no problems putting this together. However, the box did say “Improved Design”. Maybe that had something to do with it. It was quite simple, and the instructions were clear. The only reason I looked at the instructions was because some people were having such problems, that I was try...

It's okay

It's okay

After writing a review for my table saw I figured I’d write a review for it’s mobile base, a Shop Fox D2057A. Everything went together fairly easily. The tedious part was installing the hardware for the casters but even that wasn’t too difficult. After having it support my table saw for over a year now, it still works as advertised. BUT… the fit and finish wasn’t too pleasing. as you can see in the pictures the corner support that holds up the tool had a goo...
