Shop Fox Classic Fence - A Real Gem

Shop Fox Classic Fence - A Real Gem

Review: Shop Fox Classic Fence Bottom line: The “Shop Fox Classic Fence” has proven to be an excellent addition to my workshop. My table saw is a Jet JWTS-10 (708100). I have always liked this saw (see review at http://lumberjocks.com/reviews/333), but was never completely satisfied with the fence. After a good deal of online research, I settled on the “Shop Fox Classic Fence”, and found a very good deal on it from Warren Cutlery, a Shop Fox dealer in Rhinebec...

Grizzly 6" low-speed grinder (Shop Fox)

Grizzly 6" low-speed grinder (Shop Fox)

This item is currently on sale at Grizzly for $49.99 plus shipping, listed at about $110. It runs at 1725 rpm, and the motor is rated as 1/4 hp, totally enclosed and fan-cooled. It ran quite smoothly right out of the box. The left wheel is 3/4” wide, and coarse grit. The right wheel is 1 1/2” wide, and is white aluminum oxide medium grit. I did the rough grinding on several chisels with the wider wheel, and was very pleased. A number of my chisels and plane irons are in need ...

”Cut perfect inlays with this Inlay Kit and your shop-made template. Simply slide on the bushing to rout the cutout and then remove the bushing to cut the perfectly matched inlay. Includes a 1/8” solid carbide spiral cutter and alignment pin. Fits Porter Cable® routers and other routers with template guide adapters.”Everything was there and fit my new Trend T4 just fine although there were two things that bothered me. #1 – the alignment pin is 8mm! (not 1/4”),...

Shop Fox W1677 3HP Cabinet Saw

Shop Fox W1677 3HP Cabinet Saw

03-12-2009 12:42 AM by knotscott | 8 comments »

The W1677 is a 3hp, 10”, left tilt, triple belt drive industrial cabinet saw with a Shop Fox Classic t-square style fence that offers 26” rip capacity. Shop Fox is part of the Woodstock International group, which is also associated with Grizzly. Both companies are owned by businessman, luthier, and woodworker, Shiraz Balolia. For all intents and purposes, the Shop Fox W1677 and Grizzly G1023SL are identical except for color, retail circumstances, and warranty. The 1677 has two 10...

Solid fence at a good price

Solid fence at a good price

It has been a few years since this fence was reviewed on Lumberjocks, so I decided to throw in my two cents worth. I own a Craftsman 113 series contractor table saw I purchased new in 1989. It has been a reliable tool, for me, but has always left a bit to be desired. The single greatest issue has been the fence. Every rip cut has required multiple measurements from both the front and back of the blade to ensure parallel alignment. While a minute or two might not be a great sacrifice, over the...

A great 3 hp shaper

A great 3 hp shaper

05-30-2010 09:39 PM by Dustin | 38 comments »

I love this shaper. And it would be even better with a power feeder on it. I have both 3/4” and 1” spindles for this machine. Because most of my shapers use the 3/4” spindle that’s what I use with this machine. It has plenty of power to handle common profiles associated with cabinet door making and I have not been able to slow this machine down. I prefer the fence design to most other Taiwanese/Chinese machines. To get it perfectly parallel to the miter slot I j...

Shop Fox W1671 3/4 HP Heavy-duty Mortising Machine

Ok, I admit it, I am a tool junkie. What I lack in skill I make up in tool savvy. That said I have never owned a mortise machine so take that into consideration when putting any value to this review. I did do some serious research before buying as this will be my last tool for a while as my wife has threaten to cave my skull in with a cast iron frying pan while I sleep if I buy any more. Let’s get to the heart of the matter; The Shop Fox is inexpensive. I paid $245 + $44 shipping at Grizzly t...

Shop Fox W1410 Table saw Fence w/standard rails

Shop Fox W1410 Table saw Fence w/standard rails

I have a Hitachi C10FL table saw. The Hitachi fence has been described in some reviews as “decent.” Not mine. I could never adjust it to anything remotely resembling consistency or holding square. It slewed terribly between front and back I always, always had to measure front and back to guarantee squareness. I got fed up. One of the new additions for my new shop project was a new fence! It took a lot of study. There are a lot of choices and a fairly wide spread of prices. I narrowed my choic...

Shop Fox W1410 - get one while they last

11-09-2013 06:05 PM by Garry | 9 comments »

I just (Nov. 9, 2013) got a Shop Fox W1410 fence for my Craftsman tablesaw at a great price. I took a chance even though it has been discontinued because it has great reviews from those who have one. ToolsandMore.us in Florida still has some (I don’t know how many). Call them to confirm. Previously priced at $250 plus, they are selling them now around $145 plus shipping. [Note – This is not the same company as toolsandmore.com.] I mounted it yesterday and used it for several cu...

Base is sturdy, but assembly is a pain...

Background: I bought this mobile base for my new Grizzly 1023RLW Cabinet Table Saw, which has a 20.5”x20.5” base. I had to do some slight modifications to get it to fit perfectly, which now that the saw sits on the base, it does. Assembly: I put the base together before doing any mods because I wanted to see how many modifications I was going to have to do. I say that so the people reading this review don’t think the mods negatively affected the assembly of the base. ...
