Allit - Modular Storage Cases (Rating: 5)

Lee Valley has recently introduced a new storage product from Germany. The Allit storage case come in two depths (43mm & 63mm) which provides different options for the user.

I have been looking for something like this for a long time without much success. As a Festool user, of course I have looked at the Systainer stuff which provides flexible storage but it was tough to find things without a pile of labels on the cases. These cases have a see-through top and it is easier to find things at a glance.

There is the economy version, I bought the pro version which has a clearer top. the other nice feature of this system is that the layout of the interior is changeable. The bins can be swapped out or stored in a drawer to take only what you want to the jobsite - if you are so inclined. The other really nice feature is that top holds stuff in place so if you only have a few bins in the case, everything stays put.

The left case above shows the low version used for my assortment of wood plugs or various sizes and species. I hate having to setup the drill press everytime I need a couple of plugs for a project. The larger case is for my #8 screws which to date have been stored in a drawer in the shop. I can take the whole case out and use the right size screw for the job "rather than the box I brought over :("

Each case also three small tackle-box like sub-cases. I use it to store the countersink bits and drivers for the screws, keeping everything into one self-contained box.

I have already bought a few more of these cases and a few extra bins for hardware and parts organization. These cases are very well made and I think the last storage system I will ever buy. I cannot recommend these enough, the build quality is exceptional and their usefulness beyond compare.

Did I say I love them???
