Make Your Own Ukulele
And.. a bonus: Learn to Play The Ukulele

(photos from the Fox Chapel Website)
First of all – this is a “how to” to make your own musical instrument and that is cool! Next, the first several pages are picture after picture of unique ukuleles, including my favourite, “Kitten’s Uke” which has a piano keys silkscreened onto the soundboard.
After the inspirational photos, the book then moves into designing your instrument and choosing the right wood. The how-to process is then broken down into styles: the boxer, and an in-depth look at building the professional-grade uke. Finally it wraps up with a chapter on setting it up and playing it.
Then, this “how to” is extended in our second book – “Learn to Play the Ukulele”.
In this book you get an overview of the instrument, tips on buying and holding the ukulele, chords, and a variety of other tips including “when not to play”, and that’s not just when your loved ones say “enough”. AND – it comes with a CD!
For anyone interested in trying their hand at building their own musical instrument and/or ukulele, this is a great resource, full of tips, plenty of photos and step-by-step instructions.
