I have tried the 6”orbital by ridgid 3 times.. I was lured by the lifetime warranty, i was reading on other sites that the warranty is not all that it’s cracked up to be.. anyway, I will never buy another ridgid sander again.. I’m tired of the frustration of having a tool you depend on, give up when you need it most. I am on the 4th sander and at this point i don’t care about the warranty.. The sander has a flaw., when you take apart the disc and the counterbalance you have what actually attaches to the motor: a small 3/8” flimsy screw that loosens up and sander shakes violently. How can ridgid call this sander “Aggressive”???? You know the old saying ” you’re only as strong as your weakest link”... well this link is shameful.. I can’t see how ridgid, that is known for quality tools, in the plumbing industry, design such a poor mechanism. I have been in the cabinet business for 25 yrs. so I know a little about sanding. I tried this sander and i know that tools break down, it’s part of making a living in this business. I budget for a new hand tool on every job. This ridgid sander has had many chances to become a permanent tool in my shop and has failed miserably. I have a fein and a porter cable, I’m just gonna have to go out and spend the extra money for another one. The guys that do most of the sanding for us call them the “throwaway sanders”..
