I love to use my rasp and found that you can get these at most county co-op stores for around $20. They are large and will remove a lot of wood rapidly. I use them mostly to fine-tune my tenons. They are wide enough to be able to keep the tenon square. They are made in Brazil. (Wow a product that is not from China) I have a few bastard files and I have a tendency to file a dip in the subject matter. This horse fingernail file is heavy and flat. For some reason I can keep a better edge with it.

What I like is the availability and the cost.
And the big thing just looks cool amongst my other files. Who knows my horse may get a hang nail and I am ready.

Thank you!

Sounds like a very good rasp… at a very reasonable price!

Will check it out…

Superdav, I had to go doublecheck, but my almost new, slightly used one is a Nicholson-Made in USA. Have
not been around horses for a couple of days, but can not let go of a good tool, I still have two pump up
blowtorches. The file is not as sharp as a new one, but it does a nice job of removing wood, keep
forgetting that not everyone has these oldie but goodies, thank you for sharing.
