Hitachi - C10FCH2 10" Compound Mitre Saw with Laser (Rating: 5)
After a few disasters with sub $200 sliders and a dual rail miter sled, I decided to grab one of these none sliders. And @ $120, this made it impossible to resist for too long.
I blew the sales they had on Amazon and also the sales they had on-line at sears but got lucky in store deal. So I grabbed it.
Any way, right out of box the accuracy was an impressive within 0.1 in all aspects.
Not bad at all but not good enough for a calibration fanatic like myself. So after an hour or so of tweaks, all digital readers agreed 100% accuracy including test cuts.
Noise I measured about 140 dB. Much louder than any table saw but close to other miter saws. The laser has an on/off switch so you can leave it turned off. Laser in bright and ez to adjust. it's very light saw so it's ez to handle.
The detents are solid no play at all and smooth and accurate. The cut action is smooth like an expensive saw. The blade is typical low grade but that's to be expected at this price range. Not even going to talk about dust collection. All miter saws have lousy dust collection design bar none. Why do they bother.
And the 5 year warranty makes this a no brainer.
All and all, if you need a solid and accurate none slider, look no further. If you can get this for around $120, that's a steal.
