Hey guys,

This is mainly for you guys out there in the USA, but you never know.
As you may know, US ball-bearing supplier VXB has been in the market for a very long time and sells all kinds of bearings to the whole world. The great thing about them is that despite being a huge company they also sell to individuals.

And now comes the woodworkers’ part: for a limited time, they’re offering this 4” LS bearing for $0.99.

Yup.

Their shipping options for ONE bearing are as follows (net shipping weight is 0.9 pound):

2-5 Days USA Only w/Delivery Confirmation ($9.55)
4-9 Days USA Only w/Delivery Confirmation ($6.79)
Canada ($12.20)
International Air Mail ($13.55)
Local Pickup – Will Call ($0.00)
Take your time – USA Only ($4.99)

If you buy ten (10) from them, the postage prices change as such:

2-5 Days USA Only w/Delivery Confirmation ($41.95)
4-9 Days USA Only w/Delivery Confirmation ($22.99)
Canada ($32.45)
International Air Mail ($45.95)
Local Pickup – Will Call ($0.00)
Take your time – USA Only ($22.41)

That makes a huge difference on the final individual price tag. I bought one locally (I’m in France) several years ago, they’re nice and durable, can take quite a bit of abuse, but sure aren’t meant for ultra-smooth operation. Still they fit the bill nicely for most projects IMO. Where I work they cost around 10€ each. Lee Valley has the same size for less than what we pay here in Europe but still more than a buck.

So for those of you looking for such an oportunity, here’s the link: http://www.vxb.com/page/bearings/PROD/LazySusan/Kit8881

BTW I got that info directly from them, as I’ve subscribed to their newsletter years ago (I was looking for stainless bearings and found them there).

Cheers.

BTW guess who came back home with a brand new, clean as it can be, pine pallet yesterday night? :D

Thomas, Thanks for the tip. Ironically I was asked about making some tabletop lazy susans just the other day and was planning to look for some hardware. Nothing like a bargain to sweeten the deal. Congtats on the “new” pallet. Oh, the possibilities.

Hey Ken, I’m glad that tip can be of some benefit. The guys at VXB are great, plus their product range is impressive and covers any possible need. They even have LS bearings of 1 meter diameter.
