Location: Naples, FL

I retired after 22 years as Marine in 1989. I went back to school and earned both a Bachelor of Social Work and Master of Social Work. I earned a Master of Public Administration in 2005 and a Master in Business Admin in 2011.
I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW). I worked for the Dept. of the Navy for 16 years with a specialty in trauma. I worked primarily with domestic violence, both spouse and child, raped and sexual assault. Almost two years ago I was privileged to be selected as the team leader for the Naples Vet Center which I helped to establish. We (staff of four) work with veterans of combat zones (have 2 WWII vets) at our place too. We work with the vets who are dealing with readjustment issues as well as Posttraumatic Stress Disorder.

I began my scrolling career about four years ago. I started with a Porter Cable saw which was a great machine for a fledgling scroller. Last summer, my saw when “belly up” so I gave it a funeral in the local recycle center. I now use an Excalibur 21 which is fantastic. (I still haven’t achieved the level of expertise I see on several blogs; however, I “play” almost every day.)

I’ve tried many different projects: portraits, 3D candle holders (Sue Mey’s designs), bowls (Carol Rothman), Intarsia (a freebie off the net-no credit given), earrings, to name a few. I still haven’t found my niche as yet. Currently I’m working on a pattern by “Grandpa” of the corpsman holding the small Iraqi girl in arms (picture was on the internet in 2004).

Guess this will suffice for now! I look forward to becoming one of the “family.” Semper FI…Eric

Hi Eric, yes I am from LA – and I love crawfish. I was a Navy Corpsman during the Vietnam era – sounds like you were maybe a Corpsman too? Although unless times have hanged the Marines got their Corpsman from the Navy. Anyway, thanks for your service and I look forward to seeing your projects.
