Waiting for knotscott to pop in and give everyone the straight dope.

I got a Delta 35-7657 on his recommendation (for $30 shipped) and it’s been a fantastic value for the money.

Every “combination” blade you buy is going to be a compromise, no matter how much it cost. I use one (Freud Premium Fusion) a majority of the time convenience sake. If the crosscut has to be very smooth and with no splintering, I will put on one of my crosscut blades, depending on the material. If I am ripping lots of construction lumber, I will put on an aggressive rip blade for the enhanced performance. If I am ripping edges that are going to be glued up directly, I will use a glue line rip blade.

All the US made blades have a good reputation. The Italian blades used to be great but I’ve had issues with Freud. Taiwan makes some nice blades.

I use an Amana finish blade. Works great for me.

Freud LU83R010 50T combo works for me. $60 and gives glue line & polished cuts on jatoba.
