In Firefox, try View/Zoom/ZoomIn (or CTRL and the ’=/+’ key).

Can you change the screen resolution size? Through control panel ‘display’ settings. It really helped me when I could hardly see text.

The only place I have a problem is posting.

Thanks, Chuck! That does help, but it enlarges everything. That’s cool with me, but the posting area is still considerably smaller than everything else.

Thanks, poopiekat. It’s already set to the maximum.

Here’s a neat mouse that can do what you want. It’s on sale, too!

Hairy…you should see a zoom feature at the bottom of Explorer (magnifying glass with a % number beside it). If you increase the zoom (say to 150% or more) everything in the browser will come in that much bigger.

Or try ctrl +/- to change the zoom.

There is also the option View/Zoom/ZoomTextOnly. If you check that, subsequent zooming will not increase the size of the images. This might help too.

Thanks, Ian! I don’t like explorer, I stay with Firefox.

Thanks, Chuck! That zoom text is still the same.

I gotta get to work, I’ll play with it later. By following your suggestions, it has improved.

I hate glasses!

For longer stuff, I actually often write in another editor and then copy and paste into my browser. Don’t know how this’d work in your workflow, but maybe keeping WordPad up with settings that work for you, and when you get ready to send your response do a fast Ctrl-A Ctrl-C Alt-Tab Ctrl-V and you’re there.

(I use Emacs for most of my typing, which is fantastic if you’ve devoted the neurons necessary to train your fingers to like it, but probably isn’t a reasonable tool for the average end-user.)

Thanks,Dan! That could be an option.

I’m on my laptop now, it is definitely something about Windows 7. This has Vista, the old one at home was XP.

I did not need to enlarge the fonts on those systems,

It’s odd that the only place where the font is very small is here in the body of this field where I am typing my reply.

Right above this block are the icons for Bold, Italic,Link and Insert Image. There is nothing in Show Formatting Reference that applies to font size.

Thanks!

If you’re keeping score at home the winner is: use Internet Explorer

It must be something about Firefox. I got away from Explorer a few years ago, it might be time to go back.

You can also google ‘Windows Magnifier’, there’s an accessibility tool in Windows for the visually impaired that allows you to magnify parts of the screen. This might take some getting used to, but I used to work with a guy who used it very effectively.

Along with the resolution, have you messed with the DPI setting? I showed my father that trick and he’s passed it along to several friends. Or is that what MS is calling “font size” now…

Thanks, Ian!
That comes up when I click the Windows “Start” icon. It works good.

Thanks, Mark!

It’s working, I’m not changing anything. The only thing I know about DPI is printing, dots per inch? Some things are better left alone, this is probably one.

Thanks to all for the help!

I would be nice if the posting print were large enough to see just like the reat of the site ;-)) Just big enought to tell the difference between i and I at first glance.

I was wondering if this only happens to me. I do have to admit, this magnifier is cool!
