ROBINMN,

While the breadboard top is featured in Arts & Crafts furniture designs, I do not believe the breadboard top by itself defines a design as Arts & Crafts. Here are some images of furniture featuring breadboard tops, many of which I would not classify as Arts & Crafts furniture.

However, before finalizing the design, it may be worthwhile to present a sketch of the overall design to your relative for approval. While the breadboard top could fit very nicely into the overall design, if your relative dislikes this style of top, modifying the design and saving a breadboard top for another project would make sense.
