The one that I like is simply called, Wood Identifying and Using Hundreds Woods Worldwide by Eric Meier. Published in 2016 so it is pretty up to date.

I have a number of books on wood species, but my go-to resource these days is the Wood Database.

-- No matter how much you push the envelope, it'll still be stationery.

Or I just go to my “Wood Guy” and ask for what I want:)
