The math is more complicated than expected but I think someone posted it the last time this was asked. Far quicker to either draw it full size or clamp and mark the pieces.

Make a full size drawing then use that to set your bevel gauge.

Lay them on flat ground or driveway and support the top piece of X with scraps under the end so it doesn’t wobble like a weeble and fall down. Align/measure everything and mark.

Maybe I’m just too picky but it seems almost impossible to get both “Xs” precisely the same. A tiny variance in the lap joint magnifies into a 1/4 to 1/2 inch difference in the height of the X. I was just wondering if there might be a jig that would ensure all four pieces are identical.
