I will be exhibiting at the show. At the moment, my booth is right by the admissions area. Although I won’t be able to meet you at the BBQ place, it would be great if you stop by the booth and introduce yourself. Chantilly is usually a hotbed of LJ activity. I’m looking forward to meeting you and lots of other LJs. -- Chuck Bender, period furniture maker, http://www.acanthus.com |

I’ll be there Friday. I’ll be wearing a LumberJock T-shirt. I’m taking a Shaker Box Class on Sat and Sunday so I won’t be there those days. I’ll stop by Chuck’s booth a few times and maybe we can set up a meet time for everyone. -- I've been blessed with a father who liked to tinker in wood, and a wife who lets me tinker in wood. Thanks for the reminder. I’ve been waiting for this for a while. I’ll try to make it Friday, otherwise Saturday. -- "They who dream by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who dream only by night." ~ Edgar Allan Poe |

I’m usually there on Saturday. I’ll be looking for dust collection fittings for my new Saw! And Willard’s BBQ is very good! It almost measures up to my NC standards! |

Sorry Guys: I went into my son’s room last night and hit my foot against the bed platform of his bed, Put a nice gash in my foot. So I don’t desire the driving and walking around on it. Especially that the Sat and Sun will be taking a class We’ll see you in a further visit. Sorry Guys: i always enjoy the meetings. I try to hit the one at Timonium on a fri and sat. I get to stay at my daughters for that trip. I had planned to pick up one of Geofery’s Inlay jig, but I guess it will have to wait. -- I've been blessed with a father who liked to tinker in wood, and a wife who lets me tinker in wood. Dang Karson: I finally got the chance to get there today, Friday, and where were you??? And what’s with this “get rid of the wife bit?” My husband got to work and the electricity was out in his building so he drove home and he picked me up and we went off to the show (today instead of Saturday). Got there around 1PM and spent 2 hrs. in the first two rows. I found some nice figured Bubinga from Cooks Woods (buy one plank, get the 2nd 30% off). Make sure you go up into the truck of wood, it’s cramped but he has more selection there. I also found a nice piece of Padauk from another vendor. The wood selection was not bad, but looked picked over at the other vendors. Or, maybe I’m just too demanding. We were hoping to look at some table saws and jointers but there were no big equipment vendors to speak of. What did they do to discourage all of them? There were some other tool vendors but no major equipment like table saws. Very odd and disappointing. My husband managed to find some lathe tools and we managed to help the economy despite the lack of the big ticket machinery. Peach Tree may has some dust collection parts and the usual sanding accessories. I was hoping to find the dust bag w/ hose attachments for a table saw, but will have to go online. -- "They who dream by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who dream only by night." ~ Edgar Allan Poe |

I would have loved to meat you also. Sorry for the damage to my leg. I didn’t get stiches but my wife thought I should have. She’s a nurse so many times overreacts. It doesn’t feel bad but I didn’t have any idea what I’d be going through after a 2hr drive and then the show and another 2hr trip. My son who was with me when I did the “gash” told me it was about 1” long. -- I've been blessed with a father who liked to tinker in wood, and a wife who lets me tinker in wood. I was there Saturday for awhile. Attendance seemed good but they did compress the floor area so it looked fuller inside. I was able to find a parking space pretty quickly which has been an issue in the past. No big tools like Dewalt, PC, Delta. Cayce WW from Baltimore was also not there. I think they are a big Bosch and Jet vendor. Makita, Fein, Lee Vallery, Woodpecker, Wood Mizer, Peachtree, Manny’s are some that were there. More hardwood dealers than in the past with those mentioned above plus Vienna HW, Lakeshore(NY), the fellow from Culpepper, maybe others. The Wood Mizer folks were sawing Cherry, Walnut, and QSWO and selling for $2.50 a foot. They also sold one of their rigs while I was standing outside watching. All in all, about the same as the past 2-3 years but definitely scaled back. A lot of gadgets and medium priced items. Also a few junk dealers and Shamwow types. I suppose the costs for the big machine companies plus a low ROI keeps them away. |
