Ordered and paid for mine on October 5, 2016. Multiple e-mails back and forth with the vendor. Received shipping advice for Wednesday, February 22, 2017.

I did see one advertised on Craigslist for $149.99, which included the $50.00 coupon for a future Festool Sander purchase.

The price was outstanding, but the delivery left much to be desired. Disappointed with Festool and the vendor I purchased the unit from. Fool me once, my bad. Fool me twice – won’t happen.

If you feel so bad, cancel and get a refund…you will get yours a couple of weeks before me, so if you cancel I’ll get mine sooner.

Toolnut told me they sold 4 (projected) years worth in 3 days.
The only fools were people like me that took some time to think about it and got on the end of the list.

Festool stopped production of these sanders which seems weird to me.

Sander arrived today. Toolnut sent me an email 2 weeks back that it would be shipped on or about 21-April-17.

- Rick M

They were never meant to be anything but a short time offer and they sold multiple times their original estimate/intent . The exact sander will be sold after all the Pro 5 production is finished (though not verified it will probably use the standard ETS 125 nomenclature). They are already selling the new ETS 125 in Europe but they didn’t have a promotion there.

How is it weird that a promotion that is 50% off and with the voucher 75% off their normal selling price is only a short term offer? Promotions are by their very definition for a finite period of time. They updated the ETS 125 (along with the DTS and RTS) and just made a short term marketing promotion out of it in the US, it would have been odd for them to continue to sell the sander for half price. They will be happy to sell you an ETS 125 (or whatever they decide to call it in the US) in the coming months for the standard price which based on the DTS and RTS I expect to remain at $195.

My information was they stopped production and will not be making more. I said that is weird. You seem to be saying that my information is incorrect but I misunderstood how you meant “offer”

Edited for clarity

My information, which you agreed with, was that they stopped production on this sander. That info might be wrong and if it is, okay, but to me it s weird.

- Rick M

The Pro 5 sander in the blue Systainer, with the $50 voucher was announced from the beginning as a limited edition so one would expect production to end with a limited edition, correct? Nothing weird about that right?

The sander is the updated version of the ETS 125 and is being produced and sold everywhere except NA as the new ETS 125 currently. Once the pre-orders for the Pro 5 are satisfied they will end production of the limited edition Pro 5 and will begin selling the full priced sander. While Festool USA has not verified the name it will be sold as either the Pro 5 or the ETS 125 so the sander itself whether labeled the Pro 5 or the ETS 125 will continue, the only production that will end is the production of the limited edition version.

I can’t for the life of me see anything unusual about the situation and you have yet to actual articulate exactly what you thing is weird.

Promoting something that won’t be available for purchase after is weird to me. Why is it so hard to wrap your brain around that. Now you seem to be claiming it will be for sale which is fine, my info might be wrong, I admitted that. Where are you getting your info?

First my information is coming from Festool USA as well as what is on in production and on sale outside of NA. If you look back at my first post I said the sander will continue in production and be for sale just not in promotional guise.

You will be able to buy this exact sander 3 months from now, the only difference MAY be if Festool decides to keep the Pro 5 name vs returning to the standard ETS 125 nomenclature. What you want be able to buy and indeed see production stop is the PROMOTIONAL version of the sander with the blue Systainer and the voucher. There will be no more Pro 5 sanders in a blue Systainer with a voucher BUT the same sander without the voucher and with a gray Systainer will be available.

If I understand you correctly what you think of as weird is not happening and either you got bad information or misunderstood the information. I found it weird since because what you apparently find weird is not happening and I see nothing weird about what Festool is actually doing. You just seem to be stuck on the idea that the sander won’t be for sale which is incorrect, it just won’t be for sale in promotional form, I think you are simply confused about some information you read.

You’re going to be extremely happy with the Rotex.

I got the 6” model with two choices for the aggressiveness of the cutting. It’s about three times faster than my DeWalt 5” and leaves virtually no swirls.

Hopefully, you got the mini vac with it. You’ll want to if you didn’t.

For any of you who are still trying to decide, get the 6” model. You’ll save a lot of time. I’ve had mine a couple of years. Festool is the way to go. Like most tools, don’t shop with price as your first criteria.

Who bought a Rotex? Did I miss something. The OP bought an Pro 5 which is the updated ETS 125, which is a 5” 2mm orbit fine finish sander.

Have your say...
