I sure wish I had that plane. I have an old Stanley Bailey 4 1/2, and it’s finely tuned and works great, but I’d still rather have yours. Good buy!

I would’ve told him 150$. Good for you.

This one has a PM-V11 blade and retails for $340. €200 is $212 which still is a great price for a custom 4½ that has been used just a few times.

Just out of curiosity, what did the seller not like? Very nice score.

The chip breaker assembly, the adjuster and the handle. Those three points are what I like the most about the plane. He tried it with a Stanley style handle but just couldn’t get along with the adjuster and the chip breaker assembly. I have no problem making depth adjustments on the fly and the chip breaker assembly is brilliant. I’m also a big fan of the standard Veritas handle.

Very good choice. I’ll look it over the next time I visit the LV store on the way home. Please note, that can be a very dangerous store!
