I think this is a great warning. Cutting metal on any tool risks getting the metal chips everywhere. One just needs to be aware of any hazards.

+1 on the great warning comment.

I had a similar experience a while back, but with a better outcome. I had put an old blade on the saw and cut a small amount of aluminum. When I went to reinstall a good blade I saw all of the aluminum shavings on the tires. I needed to use a wire brush to get all of it off. No more metal on the bandsaw for me.
