The brace is a Peck, Stowe & Wilcox No 1003—you’re looking at a previous owner’s stamp

Aha! That makes sense. Andro just had a set of letter stamps, and that it was a hand job is revealed by the fact that the letters are not very well aligned. I was fooled by the patent number (or the upper half of it) appears right below the name. I was thinking they all were part of the same stamp, and of course the owner would never stamp the patent number. I still wonder why he put periods after his first and last names. Perhaps they are abbreviations.

I would say, most likely manufactured around the mid Nineteen-teens (1915-ish)
