Those cheaper edge banding machines usually don’t last and can be more work than they are worth.

The last company I worked for retired and sold out. He payed $36k for his edge bander and sold it for $2k running. He just wanted out quickly. It was a CEHISA EP-9.

Now a buddy of mine bought a older SCMI for $3k and spent $1,000 on repairs and works fine.

Problem with older machines as they have more working parts and take more care…

Personally I would just buy a good contact adhesive sprayer for a $1000 and use it…Fast and easy and gets the job done

If I could find one at $3,000, like your buddy, I would probably buy it. The cheapest used machine (for production, not for the weekend warrior) that I have found was just under $5,000. However, there are other things that currently have priority over buying an edge bander. My biggest priority is a bigger drum sander or a wide belt sander. I am looking for any used one that are at least 37” to 43”. The next priority is a line boring machine. Once I have that, then I will start to look seriously at an edge bander.

What do you mean by a good adhesive sprayer? Can you send explain that a little bit better?

Have your say...
