I was thinking, WOW I can buy a lifetime supply a dowels for $400!!!
But then it hit me there may be some that use that many dowels and need them in some special wood that you just can’t buy so for some maybe it would be useful but like you ain’t going in my shop.

What is wrong with a hole in a piece of metal ? You can make one on the spot and it will work arguably better.

I almost bought one. Commercially-made dowels are inexpensive but they vary in thickness quite a bit. I spend a lot of time sanding dowels that are too big for the holes I drill.

Ultimately, I just got the Lie Nielsen dowel plate. That should suffice to shave the dowels down to the appropriate diameter.

Some folks probably need that dowel press to go with their $600 doweling jig.
