Did you hit a hidden nail or something else metallic? Unplug it and check your knives to see if they are damaged.

How thick of a cut were you taking?

Also, did you wax the feed trays?

I’m not familiar with that specific planer. However, it sounds like it may be a sheared key on the belt drive pulley or a busted gear (depending on how the drive train works). You’ll need to pull covers so you can see what drives the belt and trace the system back to see exactly what the motor should be driving that isn’t turning.
