That’s a pretty modern idea for such an old hobby.
I love it!
I know is be happy to find a turned doodad laying about and would be especially intrigued if it was marked somehow and u could look that up online.

I say start it up.

That is a really cool idea. Wish I had a lathe to join in the fun. Maybe this time next year!

Great idea Kelly. I remember when GPS first hit the consumer market and I spent every Saturday out Geocaching. It was so much fun and the end result wasn’t nearly as cool as a turned object. We could do the same kind of thing if the site also let people post lat/long coordinates of where they had dropped “treasures”. We could leave them in local parks and on walking trails.

Unfortunately, there isn’t a local turning club around here but I’d think if all the LJ turners were to take the idea to their local “buddies” it would be a fairly easy site to set up and maintain.

I don’t have the time or the knowledge to contribute on the website side but, if it gets underway, I’m definitely in for turning and contributing!

Find a local “Little Free Library”, those neighborhood books stops, and drop a few in there. You could even write up a little book of your own explaining what it’s all about and place it in there too.

I made a lot of little spinning tops a couple years ago and gave a bunch away, people are always amused by a nice top.
