They have my latest, the monochrome marquetry box that I made for the recent shop art swap. In the text I had a link to an older project of mine and if you click that link in their write up it goes to my LJ post. Also at the end there is a link to my LJ post of the featured project.
I’d say that is giving credit.

i found all my projects there as well as the projects of many LJs. I guess they update regularly because I am relatively new to LJ. I wonder if what would happen if in the description of the project somebody wrote something along the lines of “to be posted on LumberJocks.com only and is copied completely without permission and is therefore considered stolen if posted on http://www.cooldiywoodworkingeasyprojects.com"; you think they would copy that as well, or edit that out?

Often a site like this exists solely to generate traffic so they can sell ad space. It isn’t there to serve any purpose other than to say, “see how many people visit my site? Pay me to advertise here.”

The more you guys click around on this a-hole’s site, the more ad revenue you are generating for him.

This is one of the reasons I don’t like posting picture of stuff I build online. This isn’t that bad either, it’s when someone make blatant copies of your original work and claiming it as there own, hasn’t happened to me but I’ve heard stories of it happening to other Jocks here.

A lot of copy right infringements on the site, not a US based business and hosted on a foreign hosting company on a vps for high traffic to the site. http://one.com

If anyone sent them a copy right infringement notice and knowing one.com I doubt very seriously they would even respond to your email. That’s why thugs host their sites in hosting companies in the Netherlands, Denmark etc. They don’t have to obey US and other country’s copy right notices and site take downs.

We have a server in the Netherlands to handle European clients only and will not host a US based site on it.

I notice too that ole Ted is on there so go figure.

I don’t know why this should be the responsibility of lumberjocks. They are your photos. You can easily watermark
them yourself before posting them.

If lumberjock has to do it they would have to deal with thousand of photos. If do you own work it’s only a few.

BTW if someone wants to steal any photo I’ve posted on the internet more power to them. I can’t find a good reason to care.

You need to put the watermark on the image it’s self so it can’t be cropped out of the picture or merged into the picture in Photoshop. It would have to be something with serious money for a scammer to merge a watermark into a picture so it can’t be seen.

There are some scripts out there that will auto watermark pictures but it will be one watermark and not each individual’s name on it.

I agree that each person should put their own watermarks on their pictures with their name or what ever fits their fancy.

We have one made up in Photoshop with our logo that’s a transparency and will work on any picture. It’s just a drag and drop thingy and takes only a minute. We also have one in Autocad and Microvellum that will auto mark our architectural drawings.

If LJ had one every picture would probably have LJ on it and not the original owner of the picture.

Some of you have already noted it but by posting the link and everybody clicking it drives site traffic which means that person is getting paid more for the advertisers on the Site. Also buy you guys clicking you are also creating a link back to your IP address on your own computer which might drive more spam email to your account just be careful. And I love the one about replacing the pictures with questionable content for the other one I think that’s hilarious wish we could do that here just for a couple days just to see what happens at the end of the world.

From the website’s hosting company. I would think it’s probably their usual copy and paste to reports of copy right infringements. I’ve seen basically the same thing before from other host just worded a little differently especially with offshore hosting companies in that area.

Dear Sir/Madam

You have requested that One.com takes action in regards to a specific website,
since you find that there is illegal content on the website or you have asked
to have protected customer information handed over to you.

We have no possibility or intention of being a judge in these cases, and
therefore we advise you to direct your enquiry to the owner of the website
which can be seen via the ordinary who-is lookup or to go via the system of
justice (enforcement court) and get a court order against the website owner
from a EU or US court stating that the owner should remove the content.

In the case of customer information, we ask that you provide a court order
stating what customer information is to be handed over.

Upon receipt of a court order we will act responsibly and follow the
directions of that court order.

We also refer to our privacy policy which can be found on our website
http://www.one.com/en/info/privacy-policy
We also want to draw your attention to the fact, that a website with its
contents can be moved to another webhost/registrar within a few days and that
a court order against the website owner in this situation is a more useful
tool for you to pursue your rights.

If you wish, we can forward a message to the domain owner. If you want us to
do this, we ask that you write out the message to be forwarded in full as we
do not word or make changes to the forwarded message in order to avoid any
confusion or misunderstandings.

Kind Regards

Interesting subject. You could add your signature or whatever you want in the paint program also. I use it to “shrink” a lot of my photos before I post them on LJ’s, or anywhere else. After shrinking them, I’ll add a small e after renaming it and save the pic into a folder strictly for posting online or in emails. That way, the pictures aren’t the size of the empire state building…......when you send em.

We all should take our own security measures. It shouldn’t be left up to this site or any place site. Just my 2-cents.

I agree, we should all take extra measures to protect ourselves in the internet.

Paint is a good program Roger. If you want Photoshop CS2 for free Adobe has coughed it up for free with their serial number with all the programs in the CS2 package. ImageReady CS2 is bundled with the Photoshop. I use it more than Photoshop.

You can download it here: http://www.techspot.com/downloads/3689-adobe-photoshop-cs2.html

Scroll down and you will see the serial number. I know it works as high as Windows 7.
