Congrats, I too am a product of Camp USAFA so if he has any questions let me know. I have a couple local students heading there as well that I have been mentoring, it should be a good experience for him. There also was an ex-enlisted in my group and he did very well there.

I have a little Basic Training survival guide that serves as a cheat sheet as to what to expect those first couple of months so if you are interested PM me with an e-mail address and I will send it along.

Of course it’s been said that the Air Force is the only service that sends its officers to the front and keeps the enlisted in the rear, so this promotion may not be a step up… Grin.

Congratulations to you and your son! Truly an honor. My Son is in the Army Reserves and is training now to deploy in early July. It makes it a little easier on us parents when we hear good news stories like this one. Thanks for sharing.

Officer out of the Enlisted. That’s the way to go. It’s always nice to take orders from someone who has field experience rather than someone who read it in a book. Congrats.

Agreed, when I was in, the officers who were enlisted first…just seemed to know what was going on in the real world. NOT saying all the others did not (Well some hadn’t a clue). But the few I served with that were prior enlisted , just seemed to understand better.

Congratulations! Maybe your son can help bring in the next generation plywood Mosquito fighter planes in the near future. We can contribute. Meanwhile enjoy the time with your son.
