I would never run a Windows product on my laptop or tablet, so I can’t help here.

^ I wondered how long it’d take to get a comment like that. Looks like around 76 seconds…

I was looking a this OS the other day for my wife’s laptop replacement, I believe the sales person told her you can switch the operation to act like a regular laptop. Maybe this will help.
It would really upset me if I couldn’t stay tuned to the site.

I’ve got Windows on my laptop and no problems like you describe. Marty probably put a hex on you!

I have no idea what the problem is here Randy, but I’m certain that Marty’s happy about it, or responsible for it, or both…..

Thanks Cricket!

Bob,
I can open IE in “desktop” mode, but I like the larger screen size while running in RT version.
I have done that, with other sites & still have issues.

Oh yeah, I blame Marty for everything that goes wrong!!!

I had the same problem on my desktop pc when I upgraded from Windows 7 to 8. I went back to 7 and all is good again.

I don’t have any problems on my ipad.

But…...I am on my County owned tablet running Windows 8 right now and no problems of any kind.

In other words, my post is pretty much useless. :-)

Stop using IE get Chrome a lot of 32 bit ARM processors have problems loading flash elements on sites, you can try updating shockwave and flash for IE but I have better luck using Chrome that way it auto updates flash.

Op I apologize Randy I didn’t read past Surface, RT isn’t the same as Windows 8 or 8 pro and Microsoft was kind enough to lock you into only being able to use IE on RT as both Mozilla and Google gave up efforts into trying to develop their browser to work with the RT platform…sorry your kind of SOL with that version of the Surface.

You may be correct. I researched it for a bit tonight and it looks like Windows RT may have some compatibility issues with some sites. I will let you know if I can find out more.

As for your other question, I use Windows 8.1 with no issues at all. I am not a big fan of IE though. My default browser is Chrome.

I’m on a surface rt and have no issues with lumberjocks.

My only suggestion is to post your issue on Microsoft’s community. http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/surface/forum?tab=threads

I’ve had 2 issues. One with YouTube not working and the store not working and got solutions from the community.

i’m on a surface right now and have a windows phone I use a lot. Make sure its updated. The MS tablets had a lot of network issues when they first came out. Its gotten much better though.

InstantSiv,
Thanks for the info, link and great advice. I’ll be doing that soon!!!
It’s good to know that perhaps there will be a solution….

Don,
I have a windows phone also, seems to do ok….

So it appears that it is ME, or my tablet. I’ll look into the MS community thing….
