It could be an issue with your browser. Try clearing your browsers cached files. If you don’t know how, I can tell you for explorer, firefox or chrome.

Andy, clearing the browser cache simply means deleting all the temporary files your browser stores, so it can display web pages faster. It’s a really simple process but different browsers have different ways of doing it. When your friend does it for you, make sure he shows you how it’s done so later you can do it yourself, if need be.

I have the same problem but it only happens when I click on the screen after first viewing the right, white background screen. Very irritating.

kdc68 – I’m interested to know what Operating System (e.g. Windows 7) you’re running, and what browser/version as well. I checked your posts in this thread but don’t see that. It sounds like previously clearing your cache had resolved the problem, but is it no longer?

I’ve not experienced this personally, but this thread his piqued my interest as far as what could be happening to cause it.

I have same problem and had a computer expert try and fix it, daughter in- law, she said it is the site not the computer.

It’s likely a combination of a browser (or just a browser setting/addon/extension) and how the site code is being interpreted by the browser in question. I’ve not yet seen the behavior so I don’t think it’s a global issue. It’s just a matter of nailing down the commonality of those that are experiencing it and going from there.

j_dubb.....Windows 7. I cleared the cache and “thought” it helped that day I received the tip from Ted. But since retuning to LJ’s the next day the website color changes started once again…...LJ’s is the only problem area. While the color changes was occuring with LJ’s earlier, I was simutaneously logged into other websites (my bank being one of them)and no other websites has this issue…..So I am assuming the problem lies with LJ’s and not my PC or operating system….You noted how my posts appear in this thread. The issue is sort of like a traffic light….Right now I have the “green” light and everything is good to go

I checked on two different pc’s, my iPad, and three different browsers and have no color changes.

With Windows 7 & 8.

Yeah, that’s why I suspect that it’s a combination of a browser extension/add-on/toolbar and how they may be impacting the the site code.

I’ve yet to experience the behavior myself, which is why I was trying to collect some data and find some common ground for those that’re experiencing the behavior.

@kdc68 – Oh no I understand it’s most definitely not just you, as evidenced by others in this thread and other threads. It seems there are those that experience it, and those that do not. The first step of troubleshooting any problem is gathering information of those that are experiencing the problem to find some common ground to start from.

Cricket, who I presume is an admin, can leverage a case with the creator of the code, but I fathom the first thing that they’re going to ask her to provide are specifics as to what Operating System and Browser those that are affected are running, so it’d be helpful for her to have that information going into it.

I’ll throw out a template that folks can use if they so desire to get Cricket that information.

Cricket – note that I am not having the issue, just providing a sample template.

Operating System: Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 (64-bit)
(If you’re not sure about this, and you’re running windows, simply Right click on Computer and select Properties)_

Browser: Chrome (Version 34.0.1847.116 m)
(Clicking on the menu in chrome and selecting about Chrome will show the information needed)

Browser Extensions/Addons: Adblock
(Clicking on the menu in chrome and selecting Settings then Extensions will show the list of extensions you have, and those that are enabled will have a check)

Web developer here. I’ve observed the issue here on OS X 10.9.2 in all latest Chrome, Safari and Firefox. It is not a browser/OS issue. On several occasions, I have seen the background color disappear at the same moment ads load. Despite being iFramed in, my observations would lead me to suspect the way you’re loading ads appear to be either destroying part of the DOM, or loading in JS/CSS that is altering your code. I have not looked into the issue further than this but would suggest perhaps that’s where you start your investigation. The ad I’ve observed the ad-load/disappearing-background concurrence with is the one in the #ads-panel area.

I’ve had the same issue. It likely is due to some NSA fiddling around, so I wouldn’t fret about it.

Mine’s Been fine for the last week or so.

BUT! Now for some reason I’m getting “Signed Out”. No particular pattern. Can Happen at any time.

Sometimes “Page Refresh” gets me back on, but not always. If I hit the “Back Arrow” 2/3 times in succession that usually gets me back on.

What Next??

Not getting “signed out”...not yet anyway…..
The color changes still happening though and I sign myself off because it’s aggravating….
I seen Rick M has issues being booted to sister sites….
This is still a great site but the issues that go on unresolved are becoming a detriment….

Cricket, not sure where your developers are at with this, but it started happening again to me today so I dug in a little. I know what’s causing the display issue and have a couple of options for a fix. Sent you a PM to discuss details.
