i’ve rearranged the shop rather than butcher a piece of equipment. cutting something down always seems like such an inelegant solution to a space problem.

You should have taken a few inches out of the width of the new car instead.

Chuckv, actually my first question was why she thought she needed to park in my shop. She told me why.

Toolie, inelegant maybe but never a butcher job. If I had been thinking years ago and done some research I would not have bought the stand. I would have built the miter stand with the folding wings and drawers. You know the old saying…20/20 and all that stuff.

I’ve certainly never considered shortening my equipment.

If she had gone with the dang SMART CAR, you wouldn’t have this problem :-)

Time to build another garage IN FRONT of your current garage, thereby protecting your workshop space.

Well don’t keep me in suspense. Why can’t the car stay outside?? My wife doesn’t ever park in the drive, she parks in the front yard. There is not enough drive and it just ain’t a priority.

I liked the Smart Car idea myself.
Wonder how she would do going from a Ford Expedition to a Smart?
I could gain another half a stall.

Crank, Smart is good but I would prefer something she could keep in her purse…not my shop.

Luckily, I get the whole garage. My wife’s broomstick fits in the corner and takes up practically no room at all.

Here’s a quick mod I did to my drill press. Rare earth magnet in a shallow forstner bit hole, opposite a drilled hole to hold drill chuck key. Magnet holds thingamajig to drill press and holds key in place.

I like the little drill press thing.

I don’t have that many tool modifications, I have always modified the shop to fit… but then I am not sharing it with my wife. She makes fun of me every time I pull her car in when it thunders… funny how different folks can be. One thing consistent, is your spouse will find something to ride you for.

You could have said “yes I will make room for your new car” and started knocking down the living room wall.. then you could have used the ever popular “well you told me to make room for the car”!!!

speaking of things on wheels, what about that car…..LOL Actually my sweet bride of 45 years let me put up a
30×60 shop. I let her park her car in that garage and I take care of maintaining her door opener too.

Have your say...
