Welcome to the site. Lurk all you want. Most of us did the same thing before joining. It’s a good place to learn. Lots of real craftsmen here to learn from and no end to the amount of help people are willing to give. Enjoy

Wait til you ask people if they want to see your (or pictures of) wood.

Welcome to the site, Mark. And remember, things will go much better for you if your wife has an appreciation for your wood as well.

My wife is not so fond of my wood when it is in its rough state. She just can’t see the beauty underneath. Get it all polished up and presentable then she is happy.

Welcome to LJ! A fair amount of us have all had that happen, where the spouse cannot see the finished product. My wife, luckily, gets off just looking at the planks as they come off the planer, often expressing “oohs” and “ahhs” at the grain. But then she comes down with pictures of what she thinks I should build out of that plank, so we all have our detractors!

And there is so many ways wood goes well with metal, you should have an endless lineup of goodies to build.

Good to have you here. I’m sure most of us dream about wood. I was sinking log pylons in my garage floor the other night. My motive escapes me. Probably due to I’m in the middle of my bench build.

Sappy dreams.

There is lots to read. Much of it is at varying skill levels, so there is something for everyone. When you are comfortable, post some comments or pics of your projects.
