Every day is a great day to be alive. Why let a little inconvenience like the weather worry you?

I could be a weather forecaster. Just make up any old crap. Put the Sun, clouds and raindrops anywhere on the map.
That’s what they do in Ireland.
The forecast is snow on Monday. The country will come to stand still as soon as the first snowflake falls.
But it won’t snow because the forecasters are just making it up as they go along.

I keep thinking that if I had my life to live over, I’d become a meteorologist. They get paid a lot of money and they never have to be right. They aren’t even expected to be right. How cool is that?!

We lived in Hawaii for 19 years and I swear the daily forecasts were just a series of seven rubber stamps: Sunny today with some squalls, partly cloudy today with some sunshine, mostly sunny but a few squalls, etc. Thing is, they’d be on the air telling us that it was raining when there was not a cloud in the sky! They could be so much more on it if they just looked out the window instead of their computer screens.

Anyway, here in the beautiful California Sonoma County Redwoods, this January day is sunny, clear and a crisp 50 degrees. And that’s from actually being out in the weather!

My father in law had a rather unique weather gauge. It consisted of a picture of the back end of a mule with a piece of sisal rope as the tail. The instruction were:
  1. If the tail is wet, it’s raining
  2. If the tail is moving, it’s windy
  3. If the tail is moving and wet, it’s raining and windy
  4. If the tail is not moving, not wet, and warm, it’s sunny
  5. etc.

This thing was never wrong!
