Those that want to control what others say have the power to control what they themselves read. ”Oh no!!!. That guy with the Jesus picture again…” Click or no click. Easy as that. -- Never trust a man in winklepickers |

I don’t think it’s all that big an issue…that’s what the off-topic forums are for. For me, it’s the trolling behavior…or shock-jock language…where it seems that you (or others) want to manipulate in order to get a response. Akin to that is the lack of humility that goes into such posts. I think, with you, people want to respond because they feel they need to feed the troll as opposed to any value in the topics themselves. You raise good questions…try letting them stand on their own. -- jay, www.allaboutastro.com |

The sites are like radios/tvs. There is an off/on button so to speak. I am a Reformed Druid but I don’t let the pic of JC irk me nor the content of DKV’s post though he seems to need a check up from the neck up IMHO. -- Jerry |

You all say I need a check up and I need to be shipped somewhere but you haven’t told me why. What have I done to you, Gerald Thompson, or you, Katdaddy? Is it just that I happen to have a different opinion and it’s time to get rid of me rather than let me have an opinion? Help me understand so I can ruminate over it and perhaps change some of my ways that so upset you guys. I’m looking for helpful criticism. And, why would the pic of JC bother anyone? Come on guys I need a little more specitivity here. -- I would drink a river of the kool aid before I took the smallest sip of the tea... |

ok DKV you are confusing me…you mock the people that ask stuff that has already been asked…yet you want an open forum… pick a side would you? I’ve already opined on being in favor of the “Cheers Bar” as long as it is isolated from those that take offense (“those that take offense” is a polite way of describing people common to many other boards). In fact I think I will trademark “TTTO” as the next texting acro. just saying… |
|
#10 posted 163 days ago |
Teejk, Point me to the mocking so I can reply/explain. And yes you are right that I advocate for “right for an opinion” and against those that would try to keep anyone from an opinion. It’s all pretty simple. If the “mocking” is my opinion that someone should do research before asking questions that have been asked a hundred times before and those that read the op and then jump to a response without reading anyone else’s response then I am guilty as charged. And, it would be nice if Gerald and katdaddy explained their issues with me rather than just pile on. -- I would drink a river of the kool aid before I took the smallest sip of the tea... |

Quick edit Don, you know how easily some get offended. As you know, I always err on the side of diplomacy. You should try it sometime. Though then we would have a diluted DKV, and where would the fun be in that? -- Never trust a man in winklepickers |

This is my truth tell me yours. That’s the name of an album by Welsh Indie band, Manic Street Preachers. Some really good songs on it too. Back to the truth. We are all different aren’t we? Wouldn’t the world be a boring place if everyone was the same? I don’t have a problem with DKV using a terrorist looking avatar, or the iconic Jesus painting. Besides, I actually think DKV is Lee Van Cleef’s doppelganger. That’s not important. I spend more time in OT than I do looking up threads about woodworking because for the most part, I’ve seen it posted before, and I really don’t have much to say about anything made by Grizzly, Powermatic or Sawstop – being brands that will never cross the Atlantic. Besides, there are plenty of woodworkers here who are better and more knowledgeable than me, they are equally capable of answering a question that has been asked a dozen times before because the poster of the question didn’t know how to/couldn’t be arsed to use the search feature and find out for themselves. I do like Lumberjocks though. I spend far too much time on it. I like DKV too. I’m amazed he’s still around after all the abuse he’s taken. But then again, I think he likes it in a sado-masochistic type way. That’s not to say I think DKV may be wearing one of those inflatable rubber suits going into battle with the likes of JoeLyddon, his special buddy JimC, Rick or He who Must not be Named… or a gimp mask either. He just has a higher threshold for shit than I do, he’s also capable of giving back as good as he gets, with good grace and good humour and I applaud him for that. Let him air his opinions, let everyone air their opinions. You can be old without being an old fart. All the bleaters fall into the second category IMO. They already got their way over Politics and Religion. What next? How can the moderators be contacted about anything that I don’t want to see but I clicked on in the first place? Just had a thought. For you folks out there that believe the name of the Lord should never be used in vain, what do you think of substitutes. Like Jeez for Jesus, Gol dang for God damn, etc? Oldnovice, I’ve been thinking about what you said. DKV, I use Russian, works better for me as no one has any idea what I said. Did I offer a greeting or did I speak about your DNA being the missing link, who knows?
