LOL…so what you are saying is that she really looks nothing like me, right?

Thanks Gary, I happen to agree (although I AM slightly biased :) )

how wonderful!
Great project as well.

You were indeed in the best spot. You got to see everything!
Now is she smiling so big in the last picture because of the fun she had or because she’s sitting on her daddy’s knee?? :)

Ryan,

This was a wonderful opportunity to do both what you love and involve your daughter as well. Getting involved with our children’s activities creates strong bonds that stretch into adulthood. She appears to be a wonderfully happy young lady and I can understand why you are so proud of her (yes you have every right to be biased).

You need several of those “projects”. If we’d known how much fun grand kids were, we’d of had them first. That is a great program that the show put on.

LOL! Had ‘em first and cut out the “middle man” eh? :)

I have one more “creation” just in the finishing stage right now…it will be done about April 20th!

thats so cool. its always good to see younger kids getting into woodworking. where i live there are no shop classes in schools. very little woodworkers. and the only good woodworking class is more of a master class that costs about 700 dollars for too weeks (expensive). i think its good that there are these things so younger kids can get into this great craft before they get absorbed in video games. great post.

Good one Ryan! It’s always a blast getting the kids involved in woodworking. As a matter of fact, maybe I’ll use the bookend idea on my grandson next time!

Just to be clear, it was all volunteers from the magazine that put that together…I didn’t even get to see her build it. I was up to my ears building the show project at the other end of the building (Those last two pics were taken at my workshop at the show), but my wonderfull wife took lots of pictures so I wouldn’t miss out completely. :)

Totaly agree with the teenage woodworker. It is great to see small kids get into woodworking. Video games are so overrated. LOL

Thank you Ryan for sharing this. I love my kids to pieces but am guilty of being too busy sometimes when I know I’m never supposed to be too busy for my kids. I have a son that asks me all the time to build something and the book ends would be perfect. He has a little work bench in his room and is always busy making something out of the plastic pieces that came with it.

That woodworking project planed for today will have to wait. I’m going to be busy helping make book ends!

Thanks again.
