Same thing here…It started last night….like Sawkerf said you can go to the main page, and look at a forum topic, but when you try to back out to go to another page, it doesn’t work….I have to hit the main LJs at the top of the page…..it’s definitely in the LJs website…...

On IE8 if you “left click” the back button you see where your destination choices are in a “drop down” list.
The first 7 choices are “forward information” or something like that. You can click the 8th choice and you go back.

AHA!!! I think that Crank49 found the problem. When I right click the Back button, I see a list with “Current Page” followed by seven “Share This” entries. The last choice is the previous page.

I think that the order of that list needs to be reversed so the top choice is the previous page.

Edited To Add
Just discovered that the more I go back and forth between pages, the longer the “Share This” list gets. Since I don’t use any of the social media sites, this is truely aggravating.

The “Share This” entries seem to appear in multiples of four which corresponds to the number of social media sites that show up on each new topic. I think that every time you go to another thread, the four “Share This” entries get added to the list so the more times you jump around the longer the list gets.

Hopefully, they can fix this soon. – lol

Driving me crazy!!!!!! I left earlier because it is annoying as HELL…........ On a site like this you are constantly going back to make sure you do not miss anything. Is this something the new owners put in?? Or can this be corrected. Where is Martin? The thing is if you click on the share this it does not do anything, anyways.

i have the back shortcut mapped to an extra button on the side of my mouse. So, I don’t actually click the browsers back button.

Another trick most people dont’ know about, is hit your backspace key on your keyboard. It should go back to the last page you were on.

I use google chrome and firefox usually, but I tested in IE9 and it works for me here :)

Hello, this bug has been introduced by the recent code update at ShareThis.com. We’re using this 3rd party service to generate FB Share & Tweet buttons that you can see at the end of the posts.

Seems like they fixed it already but I will check out the alternative solutions yet again.

Still not working here. Have to work thru those “Share This” entries to get back to where I want to be.

Maybe that ShareThis software needs to go away until it works right.

There was an official response from their dev team few hours ago. The issue should be resolved.

If you’re still experiencing strange behavior in IE try cleaning your browser cache and cookies.

Same here and it’s becoming really annoying. That ShareThis software needs to go away until the developer can make it work right. I enjoy LJ’s, but not enough to do special “work arounds” when I’m here.

Cool… I’m glad it got fixed.

At first I was reading that it was fixed, but, I was still seeing the eight ShareThis entries.
Then, I noticed where it said I had to clear out the browser cookies— That did the trick for me.

It’s working now.

I usually right click and choose “open in a new tab” so I don’t use the back button very much.
When I have read the topic I close the tab and immediately come back to the previous tab.

So when I look at a long list of answers I open the various links proposed in different tabs so I can always come back directly to the original discussion.
