Sounds like I’ll have to start turning something other than slimlines but it sounds like a great idea to me.
Just a thought but maybe add a couple pen blanks to the mix it may be a way for people to get some blanks they may not have access to otherwise.

Super, I think the blanks are a great idea as well Frank. Maybe we could do kits as well, perhaps as 3 separate trades? Completed pens, blanks and kits. Great way to diversify and you can participate in whichever ones that interest you. Please give me any suggestions/comments that you have.

I think I’ll leave the thread open until Friday for people to join and then we’ll get rolling. If we get a lot of other takers maybe we can break it into groups so it doesn’t take 6 months for you to participate.

I’d be interested in participating in this as well – sounds like a great way to get some new souvenirs. BTW, I’m using my new (made by me) pens every day – I’m getting quite a little collection going.

I’m in I must have 3,000 pen blanks around the shop, mostly local hardwoods, but mostly all figured. I’ve sent some to other Jocks.

I setup an email account to use for the swap, you can shoot your info to gotpens@gmail.com and let me know which of the 3 you’d like to participate in – blanks-pens-kits. Include your name, screen name, address and email. If there’s a certain wood or kit you’d like to try include that in the email. It’s not a guarantee but if someone is trying to decide what to swap it might help them decide.

So you are suggesting that you will have three swaps going. i kind of thought that they’d all be in one package.

I like one package. Then we can decide when we see the blanks and pens. If we’re going with 5 constantly in the box, the postage won’t be outrageous.

I would like it to be one package with all 3 also.
But whatever you decide is fine with me.

I’m A-OK with the popular vote, if anyone objects to an all-in-one deal let me know. Otherwise it will be one box with pens, blanks and kits.

Sounds like a great idea. Let all of us know how it goes. When the circle is complete, maybe all the participants can take some pics and put them into a blog or whatever.

Have a great day,

I’m not sure I’ll have time to play however if I can make a suggestion:
doing an all in one box is fine so long as whatever is taken out is replaced by something of the same type.
In other words, if I got the box, and take a pen, I should replace it with a pen; if I take blank(s), I should replace it with blank(s), etc. That way, no one gets the box and it contains all blanks or just blanks and kits, or just kits.
Cheers,
Gary

I like the concept of what you’ve got here also timd. I like Gary’s suggestion as well. I will skip out this time around, as I’m trying to focus on some new techniques, but I would be curious of the results. I think a group blog showing pics of what everyone picked out would be cool as a follow up.

Pen trade box left Tennessee Thursday and arrived at Karson’s doorstep today. I added a bonus pen to the box and there are now 6 pens!!! As an fyi US priority mail is cheaper than UPS and quicker as well.
