It’s simple. If you buy one of their saws, they’ll tell you how to enter the contest. :-)

Honestly, I haven’t checked this one out, but sometimes those contests are a royal pain to enter.

Charlie, I just tried it again and this is what I got on the error page:

The specified URL cannot be found.

Oh well what a bummer. Well I don’t think I’m going to buy a saw to win a saw so I’ll just forget it. If they answer my message on their contact page I’ll let you know. Take care, Charlie my friend.

Well, Wayne, I’ve tried it 4 times and it leads me to an error page. My Firefox browser is usually pretty reliable. Maybe there’s some kind of browser comparability problem or maybe their webmaster made some sort of mistake when he did a recent update or something. It’s no big deal really. Just wondering.

Just tried the link myself and got the same 404 error page as you did in both FireFox and IE.

I made a hammer once. Perhaps I should win on technicality. Hammer’s such a different breed that I’d almost have to win one to own one.

Wayne, I do a lot of tinkering with web sites and Firefox is one of the most favorite browsers for people who fool around with building web sites. IE gives web site builders fits because they don’t respect all of the new web standards so when you are building a site with XHTML and CSS, for example, you always have to do a lot of extra work for the site to look right in IE. The newer IE browsers are getting better but it’s still a problem. Firefox also has a lot of special tools built into it or add ons to help people build web sites. These are some of the reasons that I use Firefox. I’ve been using it for about 6 years.

I agree with your issues related to IE. I use Firefox on my home desktop and sometimes I play around with Chrome as well…

Bertha, if I was to win it, and if I didn’t like it I guess I could always use it for a fancy work table or just sell it to somebody else. Although, I will say, except for when I use to play poker every week, I don’t ever win anything. My wife did once win a car, however. :)

I haven’t tried chrome yet. Actually, playing around with web sites has been put on the back burner for about a year now. However, I do have to get back on it because I’ve got a lot of time invested in web site technology and it’s just like anything else – if you don’t use it you lose it.

I even went to the manufacturers website and tried entering directly from the link there, both in Chrome and IE. It’s a no-go for sure.

cr1, did you get to the site or to the page where you sign up to win the saw? I can get to the site but just can’t get to where you sign up for the saw.

You know what? I’m feeling pretty lucky. I just might win that saw if I can ever figure out how to register for it.

I got an email from them that I used to sign up for the contest…it was advertising the AWFS in Las Vegas which they are attending (I am also trying to find a way to be able to attend). I looked for the email for the link but must have deleted it….perhaps the AWFS show page might have a link….if not, I believe there is an email contact address at both sites – they have great customer service which would probably get you signed up in a jiffy?

I usually do not win anything….but someday that streak may break….if not I guess I could fall back on all those Euros I keep winning in my spam folders – at the rate I get those I must have won at least a couple countries by now?

I signed up a couple of days ago with no problem using firefox, tried to double check just now, but the
popup for it seems to have disappeared. Does this mean my odds are 1 in 10, 000 instead of 1 in 1,000,000?

I have to say a big THANKS to “helluvawreck” for post about the Hammer saw drawing here because at 9:00 AM here I just received a telephone call from the president of Hammer Woodworking Machinery USA to tell me I HAVE WON THE SAW!!!

The $3,000 saw will be arriving at my shop in two weeks.

Planeman, I’m real happy for you. Somebody had to win it – why not you. Incidentally, I finally got an email about a week after this difficulty from someone at the company and he said that some people were having the same problem as I did and he said that he was sorry and that it had been fixed.

Well, I guess someone else may be happy as when I get the saw and if I like it (and why wouldn’t I) I expect I will be selling my excellent Delta 10” saw I bought new back in the mid-1970s that is the (then) heavy duty contractor’s saw with the Unisaw table, solid cast iron extensions, and fence. It has been well kept is is still almost like new.
