It looks a lot like chechen to me.

It looks like Wenge. But, I’m only about 99% sure about it.

I’ll add my vote for wenge too, although I;m far from positive.

Whatever it is, it looks like a crotch grain and it’s beautiful. I ca see it resawn into 4 sheets and quad matched on the headboard of a high end bed.

It does look like Wenge or maybe Cocobolo to my eye.

It looks a little brown to me to be wenge. Give us a density on it.

It looks like Wenge to me. I’ve worked with both Chechen and Cocobolo and in my experience they are both much more colorfull woods than that.

Looks exactly like a piece of Wenge I have, and the fact that a relatively small board is so heavy seals it for me!
