I had one of the similar models and the only problem I had was the
chuck key stripped out within a month. other than that, it was a good machine.
I had it for a year, maybe used it 3 dozen times.
I never did find a key that fit and traded it to my neighbor for some labor.
no comment on the price – that would be your decision.

It is $280 at HF. With 25% coupon it is $210 Extra $60 gives you new belts, bearings other wearable parts and some limited time to return it if something is wrong with it. Plus cheap delivery to your door.

I like that model a lot better than what is offered today.

I’d pick it up for 150$. Less is better.

Yeah I guess my big question is whether a Central Machinery drill was built better in 1990 than it is now. This thing seems a lot heavier duty than the one they have for $280 at HF, and I think it’s more like a 15 or 17 inch than a 13 inch.

if the spindles are tight, the belts and pulleys are good, the motor does not smell burnt,
and you have $150.00 you can spare, then yes, go get it. make sure the chuck key fits firmly and is not stripped.
and I would say that – yes – the older machines appear to be better quality than the newer ones.
