Tedstor, thanks for the craiglist. it will be my preference to find an used one. what did you search to get this results. I looked a few days ago (i searched for table saw) and did not see any worth the time or too far. On the other hand, a bit afraid to buy a used one as i don t really know how to identify a good bargain from a crappy one.

Also, transporting them may be an issue on my 97 ford explorer both the weight and size… or maybe not..

any tips when?

- I went to the Atlanta Craigslist and searched for “table saw” and “tablesaw”. If I REALLY wanted to flip every rock, I would have just searched for “saw”. Craigslist sellers aren’t marketing gurus, and often misspell or under-identify the products they are trying to sell.
- Identifying a good bargain isn’t too hard. The four I linked are all good deals at the prices I suggested. I’d be shocked if any of the four (besides the grizzly) didn’t perform well as is. Even the grizzly is probably OK even though its looks somewhat neglected. Get the seller to turn the saw on/off. If it turns on and the blade spins….thats 90% of the battle. Any other discrepancies can usually be remedied for cheap/free.
- A contractor saw can be separated into four major components. The motor, fence, legs/stand, and the actual saw. In some cases, you might have to remove table extensions and other accessories. At this point, you could probably fit the entire saw into a sedan. An Explorer should be MORE than adequate. Even a cabinet saw should be doable after some disassembly. It might be a good idea to download and study the applicable owner’s manual before heading to the seller’s home, and bring some tools with you.
