HVAC pipe is not heavy duty enough to handle air pressure of DC – as you’ve obviously noticed.

suggestion? since you have some of the layout already made – go with the spiral metal ducting that is made for DC. OR, go with ASTM 2927 PVC – it’s thiner than Schedule 40 PVC, lighter, but can withstand the high pressure of DC. however I’m not sure is it’s available in 8” diameter… it is in 6” and 4”.

what DC are you using?
