A couple weeks ago, I decided to finish a bowl with CA because of the amount I used to stabalize it while turning. I had my issues, but with help here and from another site I belong to, I went ahead and completed it. I'm inserting images from screen grabs from videos of this turning. They only concern the finishing aspect of this bowl.

I had some serious problems trying to post this last night. I gave up and just bailed out from trying to do any more. I'm surprised this little bit got posted. Mod, please delete it, and I'll try again later….......... Jerry (in Tucson)

Sorry to disappoint you Ed, but I'm not stuck.. heheheh I'm mounting the bowl into the chuck to get more coats of CA on it. There was going to be at least 3 more pictures, but the image inserter, not me, but LJ's program was playing with my head. When I uploaded a picture, a url appears at the top of the message. I don't want the picture at the top, so I'll cut and paste it into the message after a paragraph explaining what I'm doing.

Well, last night, on the second picture, one little exclamation point at the beginning of the url wouldn't cut, and when I pasted, the url didn't have it. I would cut it, but when trying to paste it, the rest of the url would drop down to the next line. I chased that url around my post about 8-10 times before I closed out.
I was surprised to see this picturte posted this morning…...
Thanks for you concern about me being glued to the bowl. I have gotten glued up pretty good a couple times. Ain't fun walking around the house with a 5 pound piece of wood stuck to your hand…....... Jerry (in Tucson)

I tried again to insert an image in my reply where I wanted it, but LJ's thinks it knows better where it should go. So I'm going to post a couple more and see what happens.
This picture is captured just after applying the CA. I'm doing CA only as I didn't like the results from the combination of BLO and CA. I'm probably not doing it right, and possibly the form is too large. My rpm is probably 100. I ended up doing about 8 more coats before sanding starting and going to 2000 grit. ............ Jinx, is that like Marty with a Boston accent?? hehe

Some people do have success with blo and CA, but I sure didn't… Cpt. Eddie has a video of using the two together, but his item was much smaller.

My problem is I might not have gotten my towel wet enough with either product, and towards the end of the application, I was dry ragging it. But, after enough coats and after polishing, it looks pretty good.

When you looked at the last post in this thread with a picture, was the picture any different than it is now. I forgot to crop the picture, and it showed my tenon removing tool I'm in the process of getting a patent on. I hope no one saw it, but judging by the responses on this thread, I think I'm safe…........ Jerry (in Tucson)

Hey Maudi,(hehe) the post stays. I managed to crop the picture at 54 minutes of the 60 minute edit window. Here is a picture of another form .
The first picture is a Mulberry hollow form with 3/8" wood dowels and 1/4" copper rods to stabliize the cracks. I then used turquoise Inlace for the vertical cracks, and brass key filings for the horizontal cracks. It also is a CA finished piece. That's the one the CA burned and blistered my left index finger when it stuck to the folded paper towel I was using.
This last one is a Mesquite burl that is finished with Ace Hardware spray lacquer in a can… It almost looks as good as the CA finished forms…......

I figured out how to put your pictures in the message wherever you choose to. Insert it into the message, go to preview, copy it, then close preview, and paste it where is should be…..... Go back to preview to make sure you did it, then go back to finish the message and delete the picture you copied and pasted….... Piece of cake, if my memory doesn't fail me…...........
